Welcome to the Weekly Wrap!
This linkup is hosted by yours truly and my good friend Tricia at MissSippiPiddlin. The purpose of this link is to connect with and support other active women.
You can summarize your whole week or just a small portion of it. It's up to you! Race recaps are also encouraged! {See rules} We hope you'll challenge yourself to come back later in the week and interact with more women. It's a wonderful way to make new friends!
Monday - Physical Therapy
Tuesday - 5 miles
Wednesday - Physical Therapy
Thursday - 3.5 miles
Friday - Rest (Sightseeing)
Saturday - Rest (Sightseeing)
Sunday - 13 miles (RnR New Orleans Half Marathon)
I didn't do much of a taper since I decided to go to this race only one week prior. My Tuesday morning 5 miler was a struggle. I was tired and it was very humid between thunderstorms. I did see the full moon set which was pretty awesome. I cut back my miles on Thursday to 3.5. This run felt much better, but so was the weather -- a nice breathable 40 degrees. I skipped my Saturday run. Ready or not, Rock N' Roll here I come!
I arrived at the expo Friday evening with 20 minutes to spare and breezed through quickly to find black arm warmers. As a bonus, I was happy to find the 26.2 Christmas ornament to match my 13.1. The only thing I can complain about is the T-shirt. Upon my arrival at the expo, they asked what size I wanted and made me write that on my bib. I walked around the corner to pick up the T-shirt and realized it was way too small They wouldn't let me change it. (If I had selected my size in advance, I could understand.) Tricia just happened to be finishing up at the expo when I arrived. This Jester was odd to say the least...
We met Tricia and her husband later that evening for a little adult socializing. FUN -- and I'll just leave it there. {What happens in NOLA, stays in NOLA.} Saturday was spent sightseeing including a great horse drawn carriage tour. Overall, we had a fun weekend in New Orleans. The food was delicious. The weather was perfection. It made me wish I was in PR shape. Timing is everything! I'll save my thoughts on the Rock N' Roll race itself for another post.
If this post seems unfinished, it's because we stayed too long in New Orleans!
Tell me about your week!
Wow, so cool you got to hang out with Tricia in NO. Can't wait to hear more about the trip and the race!!
ReplyDeleteIt was a wonderful weekend. Too much food and fun.
DeleteSounds like a fun trip! Glad the weather was good and you got to hang out with Tricia!
ReplyDeleteI can't believe we ended up together at the expo without any planning whatsoever!
DeleteSounds like a fund trip. I am always envious of bloggers who become friends and actually meet up with each other, like you and Tricia
ReplyDeleteWe were lucky enough to meet last winter at a half marathon. We aren't that far apart, so it's easy to meet at a few races.
DeleteIsn't it amazing when the weather hits 40 degrees? Running in that weather is heaven. Looking forward to hearing your race recap soon - NOLA is on the bucket list. :)
ReplyDeleteI think the 40s is my favorite as long as there is only light wind. NOLA is a great weekend getaway.
DeleteSeriously jealous! I hope to connect with you ladies in the future. I'm looking forward to your recap.
ReplyDeleteWe almost connected once before! You pick a race. I'll be there. And I'll bring Tricia with me.
DeleteSounds like an awesome time! I love New Orleans! So cool that you and Tricia enjoyed it together, and love the picture of you two! Look forward to the race recap!
ReplyDeleteIt was a whirlwind of a weekend. I wish we had stayed the night after the race to relax and unwind. And eat!
DeleteI'm really looking forward to reading your recap on this race! That statue is kind of creepy! So awesome that you and Tricia got to hang out and enjoy the race together.
ReplyDeleteIn person, the statue was...slightly inappropriate. That doesn't come across in the pic very well.
DeleteIt sounds like it was a fantastic weekend! So much fun I'm sure!
ReplyDeleteI'm very glad I went. Now I can say I've run a RnR race too. It had been a long time since we'd been to NOLA. We were past due.
DeleteCongrats on the half! It was a beautiful weekend (here) for running and racing.
ReplyDeleteI was pleased with the weather. In particular, the humidity. We were lucky to have it so low.
DeleteCannot wait to hear about this race. I'm wishing I'd have gotten myself down there to run it with your girls this year. The Vegas shirts were small like that too but they let me change it. Bummer you could not.
ReplyDeleteThe size I needed was just under my hand. I felt like running off with it to see what would happen! I could have swapped it after the race but didn't want to check a bag. It'll go on the next quilt.
DeleteOh....#sojealous of your adventure in NOLA! Next year? ;-)
ReplyDeleteIt's one that is definitely worth a repeat. I think Tricia is already signed up. I like to wait closer to the date -- to see how the old body is doing.
DeleteCan't wait to read the race recap. I've only been to NOLA once, & it was June, so just a wee bit hot & humid. I have to imagine the weather this time of year would be JUST RIGHT!
ReplyDeleteAlso, can't believe they wouldn't let you change your shirt size, seeing as how you had decided on it 3 minutes earlier.
Oh, yeah. June would be pretty miserable, weather-wise. That's what I didn't get. I just wrote the size on the slip about 30 seconds prior. I begged that dude to let me change it.
DeleteI have heard great things about the weather and the race. Sounds like you had a great time in NOLA! Horse drawn carriage....I have always wanted to do that....looks like so much fun.
ReplyDeleteSafe travels home and looking forward to your recap.
-Tamieka @fitballingrunningmom
I said horse, but all the carriages are pulled by mules. There's a little tidbit I did not know. The food was delicious too.
DeleteSounds like a fun weekend! Great pic with Tricia! I can't wait to read your race recap!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't hard to convince PoPo to go with me. LOL. We had a lot of fun.
DeleteJealous! Glad you had fun & good weather.
ReplyDeleteWe got very lucky. The weather could have been (and should have been) very warm and humid.
DeleteIt sounds like the weekend was perfection for you and Tricia in NO. I am surprised they did not allow you to change out your race shirt...that is a bummer. That jester is really strange, almost creepy!
ReplyDeleteI had to wait until after the race to change it, when the right one was right there under my hand. And, I'd only declared my size 30 seconds prior. I'll save it for the next quilt.
DeleteAh I love New Orleans. I'm glad you ladies had some time to have FUN and sightsee - the weather looks awesome! Hope the race went well - can't wait to hear about it
ReplyDeleteWe fit quite a bit of fun into one tiny weekend.
Deletesounds like you had a ton of fun! Can't wait for the race recap. I would love to do one of the RnR races someday.
ReplyDeleteThis was my first RnR. I'm glad I decided to go last minute. It was fun.
DeleteI want to do a race in NOLA so I can see everything. I don't mind the jester by itself, but he's standing on a creepy face thing.
ReplyDeleteOMG, you're right! Do you know I didn't notice the creepy face thing. I was too upset about his slightly inappropriate bell, which really doesn't stand out in the pic as it did in real life.
DeleteI was in NOLA in October and loved it- would love to do RNR NOLA one day! Those races are so fun!
ReplyDeleteThere were many bands on course. I didn't count. That's great for spectators though.
Deletesounds like a fun weekend! I really need to get back to NOLA and run a race there.
ReplyDeleteIt's a great place for a race-cation.
DeleteI love New Orleans. Beer Geek's family lives near there, so we visit every few years. Can't wait to hear about the race!
ReplyDeleteOh, you are lucky to visit often. We had not been in ages!
DeleteYay for perfect weekend weather, and perfect racing weather. Looking forward to your recap!
ReplyDeleteWe may have used up all of our good luck on the weather for this one. The next one, I'm not so sure about.
DeleteExcited to see your recap -- looks like nice weather this weekend, too. Do you have your next race lined up or are you going to take your IT band easy for a bit? Have a good week!
ReplyDeleteI have another half scheduled March 12th. The IT feels great.
Deletehow fun you and Tricia got to hang out! Hope you had a great race!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed the entire weekend.
DeleteI bet you all had a great time and it looked like nice weather! This race is definitely on my bucket list. I have my first trip to New Orleans coming up in June and I can't wait! You and Tricia took some cute pics! #jealous
ReplyDeleteThe weather will be quite different in June! But, thankfully the fun should be the same.
DeleteSorry to hear that you could not change your shirt. But sounds like an awesome weekend in New Orleans! Can't wait to read your recap!
ReplyDeleteThey would allow it after the race, but I didn't want to check a bag and go to that trouble. It will make a nice square on my next quilt.
DeleteI look forward to hearing about NOLA! Will you be doing any more RNR races? I will be in Dallas in a few weeks :)
ReplyDeleteThe other one fairly easy for me to get to would be Savannah in the fall. Dallas should be a lot of fun!
DeleteLooks like a beautiful weekend! Bummer about the shirt! I just signed up for a HM and was thinking "I bet I picked the wrong shirt size!" :) LOL
ReplyDeleteYou really never know until you see it. This one definitely ran small. I usually don't have that problem.
DeleteCongrats on finishing yet another half marathon! I've never been to New Orleans - it sounds like a fun place to visit!
ReplyDeleteYou should put it on your places to see!
DeleteSounds like a great time in New Orleans! I've never been there but I definitely want to do a race there at some point :)
ReplyDeleteYou will be assured to get a nice flat course!
DeleteI am so totally jealous! RnR NOLA was one of my all time favorites! I just loved everything about that city. I think I ate all the food and drank all the drinks. Seriously, where has there every been better drink deals?! Nowhere! 3 for the price of 1 - what?!!! My cousin ran her first ever marathon there yesterday and I had a blast tracking her. That's cool that our two hosts both raced in NOLA yesterday!! Have a great week!!
ReplyDeleteLet's not talk about all the food and drinks... It's a good thing we only stayed the weekend.
DeleteI would like to run in NOLA. I went there years ago for a conference - before I was a runner. Someday....
ReplyDeleteCongrats on being healthy again!!
Knocking on wood, Darlene. But I did feel very strong during this race. Put it on your list.
DeleteSounds like you had fun in NOLA! That's one city I really want to visit.
ReplyDeleteYes, put it on your list. There is something for everyone to enjoy.
DeleteLove the fun pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat's a bummer about the shirt. If you are still there, and you have time you should drop by their HQ, if they have extra's now they may allow you to switch.
If not, maybe it will be a great addition to a new quilt one day!
I could swap it after the race, but I had no intention of checking a bag. I usually don't wear the shirts anyway. It will make a great quilt square!
DeleteNOLA is definitely a "what happens here stays here" kind of place. :) Definitely part of its charm! Glad you had fun!
ReplyDeleteTrue. But, it's also family friendly. You can find a little bit of everything.
DeleteSounds like a fun weekend! I love NOLA!! I can't believe they wouldn't let you change your shirt! :(
ReplyDeleteThey allowed it after the race only. Too much hassle to check a bag just for that.
Deletecant wait to read your recap-I want to run RnRNOLA
ReplyDeletePut in on your list. A great city with a flat course.
DeleteCan't wait to hear about your race. RnR does a couple races here in Europe, but quite far from me ! How is your foot feeling ?
ReplyDeleteI didn't think about my foot until we were on our way home in the car! Speaks volumes, doesn't it?
DeleteLol, what a fun post. What happens in NOLA stays in NOLA. Love it!
ReplyDeleteVegas doesn't have anything on NOLA. LOL.
DeleteIt sounds like you guys had a great time in NOLA. I read one race report that the pavement was really uneven in parts and a few people tripped and stuff. Glad that didn't happen to you guys. Thanks for hosting the link up.
ReplyDeleteThe pavement was bad. I realized this beforehand and kept my eyes on it the whole time. I didn't see anyone fall around me, thankfully.
DeleteThe joker, oh no the "Jester" as corrected by PoPo was weird indeed, I can't believe you didn't put the "good" picture up, lol! Maybe in the recap! I'm like you, we had so much going on this weekend, it would take a book to get it all down!
ReplyDeleteI ended up with so many good pictures from the weekend and the race, it's hard to choose which ones to use! I may save that one for a candid picture post or something. You know, pics gone wrong.
DeleteI need to hear your version! I'm glad I decided to go. It was worth it.
