It's been a while since I've linked up for Tuesday on the Run. When I saw the the topic for this week, I thought I'd better get my three wishes in just in case the Running Genie is listening. I'm probably telling my age here -- but does any one else have the I Dream of Jeannie theme song stuck in their heads? Or is it just me? ... ... ... Now it's in your head, am I right? Ha ha ha.
My First Wish
Health. If I can't have a healthy body, then forget wishes number two and three! I wish for no more fractures, stress fractures, Achilles tendonitis, ankle sprains, ITB issues, cranky hips, groin strains, aching backs, plantar warts, foot neuromas, and any other ailment I've failed to mention. That's any previous injuries, Running Genie, or any problems I have yet to develop. I feel I've paid my dues in this area. Are we clear?
My Second Wish
Fun. If I can't have fun, then wish number three is meaningless. I'll give you some flexibility on this one. Fun can be in the form of running with friends {thank you for #holottafun by the way}, running on a stunningly gorgeous course, simply feeling strong and capable, running in ideal weather conditions...you get my drift. I'm actually not hard to please on this one and certainly not picky about the actual race location. So, I'll give you the leeway to work your magic.
Fun. Fun. Fun. |
My Third Wish
PR. A shiny new PR would be appreciated and quite validating for this ol' gal. I'll take one at the half marathon and full marathon distances, please. And if it's not too much trouble, could you throw in a better swim time for my next sprint triathlon? If it helps matters, I'll waive my right to a 5k or 10k PR since they are not my favorite race distances anyway. But, I must add that it's imperative the PR absolutely does not come at the expense of wish one or wish two. Are we clear?
It's your turn!
You're rubbing the lamp and the Genie appears...
What would you ask for?

I also made my 3rd wish about getting faster but not at the expense of staying healthy! I feel you on #1. I think we have paid our dues in that area and should get a free pass from now on.
ReplyDeleteWe have certainly paid our dues (darn those feet!). I think it's high time we receive our unlimited free pass.
DeleteI think we're pretty much all agreed on #1, young & old alike, cause injury really doesn't seem to discriminate. And I hope you get all 3 wishes!
ReplyDeleteI was just thinking about that this week. I have two much younger running friends with substantial injuries. It really has nothing to do with age.
DeleteDang I should've asked for better swimming too. Cuz Genie knows I need it. Although swimming is not running....but you can run in a pool, so there's that. Thanks for linking!
ReplyDeleteI was hoping I could toss that in and the Genie wouldn't notice. I think we are going to ROCK our sprint tris this year!
DeleteThis is such a creative way for some wishful thinking...! I would probably ask the genie to fly me on his carpet, to carry me through the final stages of training and lift me up (spirit wise) during hard stages of my first half-marathon in 6 weeks.
ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent wish. Running a half marathon is mostly mental! If your mental game is on point, you've already won.
DeleteI just want to be fast enough to achieve one of my wishes...oh but you'll have to go to the post to find out which one...
ReplyDeleteYou know I will. I believe you have a lot of faster miles in you!!
DeleteI hope the genie gives you all 3 of your wishes! I would also love to not deal with another injury ever again and PR's would be great!
ReplyDeleteI'm pretty sure health is going to be number one on everyone's list. Without it, all the other wishes don't matter. We've all had out fair share too.
DeleteYes those are great wishes! No injuries please running genie! My basic wish is to have running friends here in my community. We moved a little further north in October and feel a little more isolated. I would love to tackle another marathon but I can't seem to hit that register button. I hope you have a great week!
ReplyDeleteI run very early before work so most of my runs are solo. You can take comfort in the fact others are out there running with you virtually! Like me!
DeleteGreat wishes!I hope they all come true.
ReplyDeleteSpeaking of fun when the next #holottafun weekend?
If nothing else works out, we can always repeat the same one!
DeleteI've definitely paid my dues the past 4 years. Whoever said running was cheap? :-p
ReplyDeleteAs much as I like to register for races, I should have asked for an endless supply of money!
DeleteI love these wishes and they are Oh, so true! I also love that picture of you all jumping -- FUN!
ReplyDeleteWe had a lot of fun taking pictures that weekend! That jump was just one take, if I remember correctly.
DeleteLove this post, Holly! I'm right there with ya -- no more injuries, run to have fun, and PRs would be awesome (but not necessary).
ReplyDeleteSo true about the PR. # 1 and then # 2 definitely take priority. But if the genie is giving out wishes...
DeleteAw, I love all these. I'm sorry you're having a hard time right now :( I hope that even without a genie, things get easier for you.
ReplyDeleteThe wonderful thing about our bodies? They heal! I'll be back on the road -- on my feet -- in a blink of an eye!
DeleteIf you're going to wish, wish big! {imagine the I Dream Of Jeanie wish music here}
ReplyDeleteYou won't believe I'm still singing that in my head... I'll have to hum during my next race!
DeleteYes...no more injuries ;-) (Seriously, what purpose do the serve?) I also mentioned to Marcia that having Jon Bon Jovi at the finish line would be nice...
ReplyDeleteThey definitely teach us the lesson of humility, if nothing else. Will JBJ be singing or just hanging out?
Deletelove these! It has been a while since I PRed so I am hoping for another one soon
ReplyDeleteI'm the Genie and I definitely see one in your future!
DeleteGreat wishes! We need a #holotta #2! and I am not picky either! I am going to sit back and wait for the magic! Oh, I ordered the trail toes!
ReplyDeleteI'm #holotta ready for more fun! I'm glad you are trying the trial toes. It has never failed me!
DeleteI can't do squat for one or three but I just may help you with number two! :)
ReplyDeleteThat you definitely can!
Delete#1 is definitely my top wish. No injuries and no threat of injury would making running so much more fun!
ReplyDeleteIt would be nice not to have to worry whether you are doing too much. You really never know until it's too late.
