This is the MOON (It's still very dark) |
What I Will Strive For In 2015...
Run My First Marathon -- After 28 half marathons, it's just freakin' time. I'm not getting any younger here. Enough said.
Run a Half in a New State -- I love my half marathons. I also love to travel. This one is a no-brainer. You get to kill two birds with one stone. Fun! {Umm...not the killing birds part...}
Run A Double or A Series of Half Marathons -- If I double up and run a Saturday and Sunday half, I would go up a Half Fanatic moon level. If I run 4 within 9 days, I go up yet another moon level. Jupiter and Mars, here I come!
The sky is just beginning to lighten over the hill |
Incorporate Strength Training -- I do not like the gym. I am horrible at strength training, or cross training, or anything but running!
The city park in my neighborhood...just getting light. |
Run a Sub 2:00 Half -- I was 53 seconds from achieving this in 2014. While running 17 half marathons, there was not enough time for quality training in between to work on speed. Also, this goal - at least for me - depends heavily on the weather (I need low humidity). So, maybe... A girl can dream, can't she?
This my first Tuesdays on the Run link up!

Sounds like some exciting goals! I think you'll spank a sub-2 half. And yes, if a full is what you desire, there is no time like the present. I ran the Flying Pig 3-way (5k, 10k, half) last year and had a blast.
ReplyDeleteI have the opportunity to do Flying Pig this year. There is a group going from my area. I thought it would be too warm by then. Am I wrong about that?
DeleteWow! 28 half marathons. I'd say you are due for your first full one. I love racecations as well. Hope to complete one in a new state this yr too. -L
ReplyDeleteWhat is better than a race-cation, right? So far, my family has been pretty tolerant of this! LOL.
DeleteTraining for your first marathon would be a huge accomplishment! I think you've got some really solid goals--good luck!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I hope my body holds up. LOL.
DeleteWoot woot! Awesome list! And yay for your first marathon!
ReplyDeleteI know...scary but exciting too!
DeleteI have only run 10 halfs so I guess I have time but I am old so maybe I don't. Good luck withyour goals.
ReplyDeleteWe are never too old! {Are we?} I want the full marathon experience before it gets any harder on my body. It could very possibly be my one and only!
DeleteI think runners have a hard time doing anything else BUT running.. good luck on the strength training..
ReplyDelete& the MARATHON goal.. that's an impressive amount of half marathons - for sure!
Well, 6 days into the year and I've done no strength training. Must. Get. Busy
DeleteWell, is there any time left for it today? No time like the present! ; ) Great goals, by the way!
DeleteYou got me on that one! Ha. I have done some foam rolling and planking. Not a total sloath this evening. LOL.
DeleteOh, I like seeing the pictures! I should snap some of my normal running route. The city park in your neighborhood must be great for running.
ReplyDeleteI ran so much in the park when I first started. I didn't have GPS when I trained for my first half. I remember 39 laps was 13 miles. But I would lose count! LOL. I mostly stick to the streets now, but will sometimes lap through just for old times sake. It was recently repaved and I could not resist.
DeleteThat's so awesome that you are going for the Full Marathon! I am like you in the way that I have run lots of half marathons but I am still NOT ready! I'll cheer you on and wait to hear how you enjoy the challenge.
ReplyDeleteCome on...we could train together virtually...
DeleteGreat goals AND I love those early morning pictures. Strength training is a challenge for me too, but I see great results in my running when I do it consistently. I love The New Rules of Weightlifting for Women when I actually do it! Thanks for linking up with us today!
ReplyDeleteI just need to get started! I enjoyed linking up and reading the other blogs!
DeleteIt seems like I'm back to normal in every way, including new shows this week. I felt they came back super soon but it's nice to get back to my schedule.
ReplyDeleteI know! I'm so glad to be back to a regular routine.
DeleteWow, that's a lot of halves! Go for the full, you can totally do it and congrats on adding it to the list.
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'll do my best!
DeleteI can't wait for you to run a marathon! Which one are you thinking?
ReplyDeleteThere's a local one in mid March. If I can get a couple of 20 milers under my belt, I'll cut my teeth on it. Then, maybe do a "better" one in the fall. Crazy? Are you doing a fall?
DeleteGreat goals, and you can get that sub 2!!! If anyone can, I know you can. You are an awesome runner and speed is definitely on your side!!!
ReplyDeleteGood luck with the goals!!!
I really appreciate your kind words and encouragement!!
DeleteI'm totally horrible at strength training too, BUT I've just started doing Body Pump, which is has been a game-changer. It really makes weight training fun. And we're both dong our first marathons, so let's "dig deep" and do it! :)
ReplyDeleteYes, let's Own The Day and get it done! I have a friend who loves body pump class at her gym.
DeleteI can't wait to hear which races you are doing. You NEED to come do a Mainly Marathon race series, preferably one I'll be at. ;o) You got this! (And I'm jealous of the sub 2 goal. I'm so far off now it's not even a glimmer of a dream...)
ReplyDeleteI'd love to do the series. I wss thinking Riverboat but it seems like it would be hot. I'm pretty far off now myself for sub 2 after doing so many last year. We'll see. I'll keep trying.
DeleteExciting that you are planning to run a full! That scares me to death. Looking forward to hearing all about it. You go girl!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Embrace your fears, right?
