Hello Spring!

It's fantastic Friday and time for the Friday Five link-up hosted by the DC Trifecta.

In warm weather, it's all about having fun in our own back yard.
I will stay in my porch swing or on a float all weekend long.

Be warned...this is an absolutely run-free post!

FIVE SIGNS THAT SPRING IS HERE

1)   SUNNING DOGS
Just making a little Vitamin D

2)   BLOOMING BRADFORD PEARS
Although beautiful, they smell like bleach

3)  SPROUTING PLANTS
It won't be long until we have these Gladiolas

4)   SINGING BIRDS
Wow, they are so loud right now!

5)   BLOOMING REDBUD TREE
When the kids were little, this was our Easter tree

HAPPY SPRING!

What is your favorite sign of Spring?

  1. I love redbud trees. My husband grew up near Redbud, IL and they are his favorite but we haven't been able to grow any out east (the deer in our neighborhood keep eating them). I also love the smell of lilacs.

    1. I do too. Their heart-shaped leaves are beautiful too.

  2. My favorite sign is how happy people are to just be outside alllll the time!

    1. My dogs LOVE to sun themselves. They get so tired on the weekends from being outside.

  4. Hilarious that your dogs sunbathe on the diving board! I love being outside and springtime flowers make it such a happy season!

    1. I know, but hate to swim -- even though I make them. We practice where & how to get out in case they fall in (which they have!).

  5. Love the sunning dogs, ha ha! That bird house/feeder is really cute. I want to buy a nice feeder this year. Even though I live in the city, I have tons of birds since there are trees behind my house. Happy Spring!

    1. Yes, get a bird feeder. You'll notice the same birds will come. We feed the Hummingbirds during the summer. We named all of ours one year.

  6. Seeing the trees beginning to blossom really gets me excited for spring...plus the smell of fertilizer!

    1. Yeah, I'm getting a lot of that lawn fertilizer smell on my runs right now. It simply means warm weather!

  7. Yesterday on my run, I heard the birds singing loudly! Saw some daffodils sprouting out of the ground. It's still early here...

    1. They are so loud outside my window at work sometimes, that I can't concentrate! We usually jump from Winter to Summer with very little Spring. {Unhappy Sigh}

    1. They love to sun but will also get in the back porch swing with me and doze with one eye open...so they spot the next squirrel.

  10. Seeing the flowers blooming. We have different stages for flowers here and I saw the first batch on Wednesday. That made me quite happy.

  11. I love the birds chirping (even though we have parakeets in my house that make noise all winter) and I love going outside to soak in the Vitamin D :)

    1. They are so loud outside my office window these days that I can barely concentrate. But, I do love to hear them.

  12. Ha I love the photo of your dogs sunning. Do they swim in the pool too? We have a Mini Australian Sheppard and If we had a pool he would be in it all the time, he loves water! For now his pool is the large water bowl for the outside dogs. I agree I love all the flowers and trees blooming. My favorite is the sweet smell of the gardenia! The Japanese magnolia's are also starting to bloom here too! Bring on Spring I hope we don't have anymore cold snaps!!!! Have a great weekend!

    1. Our steps aren't visible, so I make them swim so they'll know how to get out if they fall in (which they have). I have two large gardenias and they smell so good when they bloom! Tea olive also smells heavenly. We usually jump from Winter to Spring so I think we are finished with cold weather. Although, it always seems cool on Easter. Why is that?

  13. Jealous of your signs of Spring!

It's snowing in Maryland right now :(

    Enjoy your blooms and blossoms!

    1. Snow? That's just not right! But, I'll be jealous of you in a few shorts weeks when it is sweltering and humid all the time!

  14. Oh, I love the gladiolas! They are one of my faves!! The Bradford pear trees are my enemies; allergy-sufferers do not tend to like them very much and we have TONS of them around here! I'd never thought about them smelling like bleach, but that's actually a great description! I hope you have a great weekend!

    1. I've been on Allegra for a couple of weeks. HA. Mine appear very early so I assume it's from the trees. Bradfords absolutely STINK. Have a wonderful weekend and a great race.

  15. Oh, bleach or not, those trees are gorgeous!

I absolutely love the dogs on the diving board. Obviously, they have a hard life. ;)

    1. The dogs truly have it hard, don't they? That's one of their favorites spots. Or with me in the porch swing...until they spot a squirrel.
