- Often times, acting on a dream demands you step out of your box. It will require you to be outside of your comfort zone. Dare to run on the other side of the path.
- You are the one who will make it happen. You can't follow your dreams without taking action. Never put yourself in a position to look back and think "I wish I had ..." Only you can take the first step.
- On the road to realizing your dream, you will encounter obstacles and speed bumps. Revisions or redirection may be required but it certainly doesn't mean you won't get there. However, it could take a little longer than anticipated. A slower pace may be necessary to achieve success.
- Do not let others discourage you. Everyone may not understand or be supportive. That is okay. Do not limit your dreams nor be tempted to chase someone else's. Run your own race.
- "We are never too old to set another goal or dream a new dream" -- C.L. Lewis. My new dream is the marathon distance. It will be a worthy challenge. I will finish strong.
Do you have a new dream?
Are you chasing one now?

I think people are sometimes too scared to make the next steps towards their goal/dream bc they do not know what the outcome will be and they are comfortable with what thy know. you never know unless you try.
ReplyDeleteI think we all have phases in our life where we just want to stay in our comfort zone.
DeleteBeautiful post!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite C.S. Lewis quotes. Ofent when I work with or even friends, ask me what they should do about something or a choice they need to make, I ask them "what is your dream?" crazy as it sounds, if you are shooting towards your dreams, the answers to everything else tend to fall into place too:)
I think your marathon goal is awesome, and not just because the marathon is my favorite distance of choice:) It's a great goal and you're really going to enjoy working on it. Plus something tells me, you're going to kick some butt when you do too:)
Oh, thanks. This quote really speaks to me. I'm not sure I'll ever do as many marathons as you have! But, I've got to step out and do the first one...first I'm going to need your advice. :)
DeleteSo, what's your dream?
ReplyDeleteMarathon...not sure what your asking. Not set time goals, YET. LOL.
DeleteDreams are definitely amazing and terrifying things. Best of luck with all of yours.
ReplyDeleteYou must take risks to have rewards, as they say. Thank you!
DeleteThat picture is fantastic! love your thoughts on dreams too.
ReplyDeleteIt's hard to imagine that picture was captured on a cell phone. It has not been altered.
Deletelovely post and so true! I love these 1 word post ideas and need to get in on them soon.
ReplyDeleteJoin in! I like it because everyone puts a little bit of a different spin on the word!
DeleteBeautifully articulated! I think you know mine. To finally be a freaking swimmer that is not terrified.
ReplyDeleteYou will absolutely realize that dream! It is awesome you stepped out of your comfort zone!
DeleteThis is so inspirational! My favorite is to "run your own race." I've struggled with that so many times in the past - but am learning to embrace doing what is best for myself and not comparing to others.
ReplyDeleteYou are going to CRUSH the marathon distance! I can't wait to hear how your training progresses. GO GET 'EM!!!
I am so guilty of the comparison game. I was definitely preaching to the choir there. Thanks so much for the encouragement! It really mean A LOT.
DeleteWell, it's going to get really big in the fall of 2015! LOL. I am terrified my body will not hold up to this. (Just ask my achy hips.) But, I've got to try. I can't think "what if". I've got to know.
ReplyDeleteI love that quote. I posted it when I was thinking a marathon. Now I don't think my foot is capable of more than a 5K.
ReplyDeleteNever say never! Your foot may feel much better after some time off. (Yes, I know that's very hard to do.)
DeleteLove this! Whenever I'm on the fence about doing something, I try to envision an elderly version of myself looking back at my life. What memories do I want to have--ones where I try new and hard things, or ones where I just sit around and let opportunities pass me by? That always motivates me to take action.
ReplyDeleteExactly! I do this all the time! Unfortunately, my body can't always keep up with what my mind wants to do. LOL.
DeleteThat is awesome that you are going for the full! Congrats on always going for a bigger dream!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I've been feeling slightly anxious about it. I hope once I start training, I'll calm down!
DeleteI think you BECOME old when you give up dreaming!! :)
ReplyDeleteI'll be cheering you on to your dream of the 26.2!!
Oohhh...LOVE THAT! I wish I had thought of it. HA. I appreciate your encouragement!
DeleteI love the C. S. Lewis quote! I look forward to following your journey as you chase your marathon dream. A tiny part of me is wanting to see if I can run another marathon. I really miss that distance.
ReplyDeleteThank you for linking up!
I'm anxious to get started. This limbo is driving me a little nutty. At least you've done it and know what to expect. :)
DeleteYou can do it!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Have you chosen a race yet?!
ReplyDeleteMy dream...ah...this could be something worth blogging about, although most know my dream is to get out of the medically field completely and open my own restaurant or food business of some sort.
Well, it sorta chose me. I got into Chicago through the lottery pick. That's a great dream! You can so do it!
DeleteLove, love love this post! That Lewis quote is one of my favorites! Your dream is also mine - still working up the courage to take it on ;)
ReplyDeleteIf I can do this, so can you! It's scary -- but I'll never know until I try.
ReplyDeleteI love your marathon distance goal. I however, may be a little biased because that is one of my current goals as well ;). I've decided to tackle a local marathon in February of next year. I've been wanting to do one ever since I graduated college, but then I happened to get injured while training for one, but that was a while ago now, and the latest reason for not doing one has just been fear. It's scary to have big dreams like that, but you're right, it's way better to try than to wonder "what if." I look forward to reading about your new goal :)
ReplyDeleteI am very worried about getting injured during training. But I'm not getting any younger and it's not going to get easier. I look forward to following your training!
DeleteWhen you stop dreaming you stop living and just start existing. I'm going to live out my most recent dream tomorrow---going for a run in Central Park!
ReplyDeleteThat is one of my favorite memories of NYC! I ran in Central Park with my sister. ENJOY.
