It's Annoying...
I was in the grocery store recently. There were two women shopping together, each with their own cart. They kept blocking the aisle as they were stopping and discussing at length the merit of various items. People were trying to pass from both directions, but these women were oblivious. Is this a new thing? Is the grocery store the new social scene? If this is your time to be with your bestie, please share a cart! It reminds me of runners who run 3, 4 or even more across making it difficult to pass. I wonder if it would help if I yell out "ON YOUR LEFT" in the store?
It's Annoying...
I'm a huge fan of Mizuno Wave Inspires. Huge. I strayed once, never again. But, oh my! The last few pairs have developed holes. The holes aren't fatal and likely don't affect the integrity of the shoe. I just think at that price, there should be no holes in my shoe upper. My older pairs didn't do this and they have countless miles. Apparently they've changed to a thinner material. The lavender pair is barely broken in. Since I didn't like the color, I didn't wear them until recently. And yet there it is -- a hole. I can't have a hole in my marathon shoe! That pair, I'm saving!
It's Annoying...
Our A/C at work hasn't been able to keep up with our nearly 100 degree days. Twice I've called the A/C man and twice I've been told I don't know how to set a thermostat. I've been setting it on 74 degrees. It runs nonstop and we get an 80 degree room temp. Per patronizing neanderthal A/C man, I should set it on 72. { Blink -- Blink } Mmm...yeah -- that will make it colder! It really annoys me to be treated like a uneducated, backwoods, gullible Barbie. And yes of course, it's still 80 degrees. Run sweats, office sweats, and night sweats. Good times.
It's Annoying...
I'll leave you with one more irritation. People who use the wrong verb tense, perhaps even intentionally. The one that really grates on my nerves is "They come over last night". Really? I get the whole it's-what-I-grew-up-with thing and admit, I myself can really bust out some very southern "rural" talk. But, especially in a professional setting, you can't hear how wrong that sounds? One more tiny thing...if you add the word "done" in front of that verb you'll hit the mother lode of annoyance. "She done come to work." THE...WORD...IS...CAME.
Tell me, what's annoying you?
My annoyance is the misuse of the English language. Your and you're. Their, They're and There. It's just not right. It's one thing when it's on IG or Facebook, but on a business' website, or a professional page on Twitter or Facebook or the newspaper. Or the worst, when it's homeschool mothers. (as I am one). I hate to think they are teaching their children these nasty habits. OY
ReplyDeleteAgree! Are kids not taught these things anymore? Or maybe the texting language has taken over and nobody can remember how to spell the real words any longer. I'm probably seen as annoying myself because I spell out all of the words in a text. HA HA. And, with the correct capitalization too. I'm super annoying. LOL.
DeleteHA! I hate the grocery store! It is bad enough that is filled with people that could have gone earlier in the day say while the rest of us are working but yes, it has turned into a social hot spot! My hubby does the shopping, thank goodness! I take my daughter once a week or so (she drives a motorcycle) it is torture! I do want you to scream on the Left! and make you sure you post the pic on Instagram or something! Happy Saturday!
ReplyDeleteIt's just not an enjoyable experience for me to start with. With teenage boys at home, I'm required to go way too much. You know, I've never even thought about how someone would shop if they drove a motorcycle. What if they don't have wonderful Moms like you?
DeleteI don't know if your post was meant to be hysterical as you vented, but I thoroughly enjoyed it. Love this idea of a link up. Thank you!!
ReplyDeleteThank you so much! You have to laugh otherwise stuff like this will pile up and make you want cry...or smack somebody.
DeleteI loved my Mizuno Inspire 9's the best! I had 3 or maybe it was 4 pair but then the 10's came out and they are NOT the same! :( I was so disappointed I didn't know what to do! I don't wear the 10's enough to get holes in them cause I don't really like them that much. I do have some Asics that I wear holes in the top part and not just on one pair. Goodness as much as these things cost they could last longer! Great link up btw you and Wendy did good! ;)
ReplyDeleteI thought the 9s were good but a little small in the toe box. I thought the 10s felt better in the toe, but the material is apparently different. I'm too cheap to buy the 11s right now! It annoys me that they have to always change it up. I want it to stay the same.
DeleteI have yet to have a hole in my running shoes, but I have heard of plenty of people who have. I would definitely not be happy!
ReplyDeleteAt that price, you want them to last forever. They still keep my Achilles from acting up, so I guess I'll stick with them holes and all.
DeleteThe exact thing happened with my Asics. They changed the mesh fabric, and in both pair I bought with the new fabrics there are holes near my big toes. I recently bought the older model, but I don't know for how much longer they'll be available. I don't take any crap at the grocery store. I know what I want and want to get in and out, so watch out if you're in my way when I come down the aisle! I'd have had something to say to those women.
ReplyDeleteI wish they wouldn't change the shoes! You find a great pair, and then they change them up the next year. I'm always pressed for time when I go grocery shopping. Teenage boys requires too many trips a week.
DeleteWhat a fun idea for a link up! Don't get me started on the grocery store. I made the mistake of going on a Sunday afternoon a few weeks ago, which is apparently the unspoken meet up time for every ignorant and oblivious person in my town... If I ever do that again, I'll try the "on your left" line and see how that works! Hahaha
ReplyDeleteThanks for stopping by! The grocery store is already such an unpleasant task for me. I'm trying to get out of there as quickly as possible. No time for social hour.
DeleteOh, I've been accused of being a grammar nazi! I hate the misplaced apostrophe! If it's plural you don't put it in, people! I could go on and on, but hey, that's a post, right?!
ReplyDeleteYeah, save it for the next annoying link up! But, at least you can't HEAR a misplaced apostrophe! I'm amazed at what comes out of people's (did I do that right? HA HA) mouths!
DeleteLOL! Mizuno let me return a pair with a hole like that. I had to take a picture of the hole and my receipt and send it to them, but they did send me a new one. Poor grammar and just plain incorrect English grates on my nerves too. Grammar Girl is my hero!
ReplyDeleteReally? Mizuno did that? I probably have the Amazon receipt for one of those. It's worth a try. Thanks! I haven't heard of Grammar Girl. I'll be sure to check that out.
DeleteIt is annoying when people block the isle like that! It reminds me of when it happens at Costco when people are trying to get the free samples. It's not the fact that they're getting them, it's the fact that they will.not.move ugh.
ReplyDeleteI don't go to Costco because it's on the opposite side of town. And, I don't have a lot of storage in this house. I hear some people go just to eat lunch there (by eating the samples). That would annoy me.
DeleteIt annoys me when people don't talk correctly! I don't get too upset because I am sure there are little habits I do that aren't exactly correct that is just "normal" for where I am from. The one thing I don't like is when people say, "Oh, it don't matter." It DOESN'T matter. That's something people say where I grew up. :)
ReplyDeleteThat one is annoying too. I do try to let most of it slide because I am from the rural south. LOL. But some of the phrases just get under my skin.
DeleteI had hoped to link up, but we were out of town and I didn't have a chance. Today, I posted my non-running questions from when you tagged me (I'd previously scheduled it). My pet peeve was using the wrong tense of run; particularly past participle.
ReplyDeleteWell if you get really annoyed in the next few days, you can still link up. LOL. Please keep us in mind for next month!
DeleteOh, my word- you have no idea how much I love this idea! HA! I've got one for you- I hope I get it ready to go before the link up closes. Brilliant idea ladies!
ReplyDeleteOh, we'd love for you to link up! Thanks for stopping by too.
DeleteI hope you don't quit, I like following your blog! I struggle with posting too. It seems I say the same thing over and over (basically...today it was hot and my run was hard). I haven't been racing so I have no recaps to share either. I bet your post is great! Others who are struggling (like me) can relate to you! YOU DO have something to contribute.
ReplyDeleteOh no, sorry about the AC. We had that for a couple of days this year and it was frustrating.
ReplyDeleteSame way this week. I guess I still don't know how to set a thermostat. LOL.
