A COMMITMENT
... takes you on the steepest path
... eliminates the middle of the road
... requires forward movement only
... takes time and hard work
... can cause you to stumble or fall
... can cause you to stumble or fall
... will surely test your patience
... may cause you to question yourself
... will seriously test your abilities
... will seriously test your abilities
... might not be understood by others
... is not intended for instant gratification
A COMMITMENT
...will lead you to your dream

You're killing me with that skiing picture in August! But once you start down that black diamond, there is no turning back - you are committed to getting to the bottom for sure!
ReplyDeleteYou certainly can't turn around and come back up! I'm wishing for some of that frosty air right about now.
DeleteI love the ski picture - that's definitely a great example of commitment! When you're really committed to something, and you want it bad enough, you don't let anything stop you.
ReplyDeleteI think commitment starts with a decision, at least it does for me. It might take me a while to make it, but then I'm in 100%. There is no turning back.
DeleteGreat thoughts on commitment! And that picture...
ReplyDeleteIt makes me want to go to Colorado and enjoy some frosty air.
DeleteLove this! Good stuff!
ReplyDeleteThanks. Good luck on your half commitment!
DeleteGreat description about commitment. That is so true.
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that. They are usually never easy.
DeleteI agree that it is not always understood by others. I am often asked to do stuff with people and when I tell them I can't because i've already committed to do something else, they don't seem to think it matters. I feel I am always trying to explain myself!
ReplyDeleteBut if you've made a commitment to someone, or doing something, or just to yourself - that should matter the most!
DeleteSo right with the ski picture!!! I also like the not always understood by others part, we talked about this earlier, my non-running friends don't "get Me" either. :(
ReplyDeleteYeah, there is no turning back going down a black diamond. You certainly can't ski uphill. As long as we get each other, we'll be OK.
DeleteCheers to commitment not always leading to instant gratification. That is SO true and one of the hardest things about staying committed!!!
ReplyDeleteWe live in such an instant and disposable society, I think commitment is probably a very foreign concept to a lot of people...maybe even a generation.
DeleteVery wise words!
ReplyDeleteThank you. Nothing worthwhile comes easily or quickly.
DeleteThat's right... cant reach your dreams otherwise!
ReplyDeleteNo you can't. I'm committed to the comitment of committing. Whew.
DeleteI'm committed to the process and pray I can stay healthy. Where we live, snow skiing is an occasional trip nowadays but I do love it. My first experience in my 20s was not pretty. I eventually got it. We used to go quite a bit to NC or TN where they make a lot of the snow. The picture above is in CO...real snow!
ReplyDeleteAhhh some frosty air would be so nice about now. And we'd all be running so fast. But instead we slog. Because we are committed.
ReplyDeleteExactly. It takes a monumental commitment run in this swampy air.
DeleteGreat visual and great metaphor with the black diamond for sure. love it!
ReplyDeleteI'm drawn to choose the black diamond and make it happen.
DeleteAll so true!! Great thoughts on commitment!
ReplyDeleteThanks. It really takes commitment to get through these summer swampy runs.
DeleteAll true, but the one that resonated the most with me is might not be understood by others. I would add might not be respected by others too.
ReplyDeleteVery true. Sadly, there is a type of person who enjoys seeing others fail. It somehow makes them feel better about themselves. They certainly do not respect what you choose to do.
DeleteI LOVE this so much - nicely done! :-)
ReplyDeleteAs always, thanks for linking up!
Thanks, Deb. I find it very interesting how varying the posts can be about the same word.
DeletePerfectly described! I completely agree, commitment will take you to your dreams!!!
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately, they usually don't fall into your lap. I've had to work hard.
