It's That Time (September)

http://hohoruns.blogspot.comIt's That Time of the Month!

Annoyed?
Irritated?
Ticked Off?
At Your Wit's End?

I'm co-hosting this monthly link up with my good friend Wendy @ Taking The Long Way Home.   (Please follow Wendy's as she trains to BQ at the Chicago Marathon!)  This link gives you an opportunity to air your grievances!  Get those annoying things off your chest.  We hope you will join us.  The link up will stay open for a week.  You still have plenty of time to join in!  (See rules here.)

Mini deserves attention too!
It's annoying...

I have two dogs that I walk in my neighborhood park.  Would you believe I've had people point and say things like "I like that one! or "The white one is so cute!"  Kids always ask to pet them.  I always oblige and make the dogs sit obediently.  However, usually only one dog gets a pet.

My heart goes out to the one that gets ignored.  Mini is very intelligent, so sweet and can run like the wind.  I swear she looks into my soul with her beautiful brown eyes.  She was smart enough to wake me from a horrible nightmare just this week.  I greatly appreciated her coming to my rescue!  She "told us" our grandchildren were coming, before our son and DIL could.  You can't hide a pregnancy from Mini.

If you can't say something nice about both of my dogs, then keep it to yourself.  And don't ask to pet them if you can't pet both.  The dog everybody thinks is so adorable is um... dare I say... simpleminded.  Trust me, I say that with lots of love.  He is my special dog.

Please don't judge a dog by it's fur cover.

CSI:  HoHo Investigates.
It's annoying...

There is a house on my daily running route whose garbage can smells like there might be a decaying body inside.  I come very close to gagging every time I go by.  I'm repulsed yet...so very intrigued.  Dare I open the lid?

It's annoying...

Mizuno Wave Inspires   v. 11
In case you missed it, I'm running the Chicago Marathon in a few weeks.  Since I've registered, I can't tell you how many times I've heard it's the murder capital of the world.  I finally got concerned enough to Google this bit of information and I found Chicago doesn't even rank.  It's not even in the top 30 for goodness sake.  Ugh!  Where do people come up with this stuff?

It's annoying...

I finally caved and ordered the latest generation of my running shoe.  I had quite a few of the previous version and figured it was time to move up.  I've never had a green pair before either.  They were so pretty when I opened the box.

Well, after running 5 miles in them, I realized they changed the width of the toe box ever so slightly.  My left pinky toe is going to suffer mightily if I run more than a few miles in these at one time.  Why can't the shoe manufacturers leave well enough alone?

It's time to vent...what's annoying you?

  1. This is too funny !

I felt really badly that your second dog didn't get petted too.
and I hate it when manufacturers change the model. I wore Asics Nimbus for years then they made some changes and it never felt right again. So I switched to Brooks ! Thanks for the link up.

    1. I switched shoes one time, to Brooks Ravenas, and developed horrible Achilles issues that lasted forever. I swear it almost crippled me and I still feel the after effects occasionally. So I'm terrified NOT to wear Mizunos.

  2. I have 2 dogs, too & since Lola is the "pretty" one, yup, she usually gets the attention. And she's an attention hog. Then again, since my dogs are little, they're puuuuppies - even if they are 10 - and most people are drawn to them.

    Mini looks very sweet!

I guess I need to write a letter to the shoe manufacturers as well as the RDs. Sorry they changed the toebox - that sucks! It's so crucial!

    1. People are drawn to smaller dogs, mine are 14 pounds - I would consider them smallish. I pray I can adjust the laces and hopefully get a little more room in the toe box, but I doubt it. I'm afraid not to run in the Mizunos because they've done so well for me. The last thing I need is to run in the wrong shoe, been there done that. Huge mistake.

  3. I hate when the shoe manufacturers change the shoes. Asics tweaks my Nimbus but nothing drastic so far. It's been many years for Asics and me, so I'm happy about that....

Yes, there's a lot of violence in Chicago, but it's not as bad as the news makes it seem. And most of it seems to be in the areas that are plagued by gangs and poverty. It is a big city after all...you will be fine!

    1. I'm afraid not to run in the Mizunos because they have done so well for me, when other shoes caused problems. When I did Google that info, I found one of our neighboring cities did make the top ten! I don't know why people feel the need to tell me that bit of info anyway. How about just wishing me good luck?

  4. And that is why, after 8 years in Mizuno, I had to go to Asics. Poor Mini, I agree that is rude!

    1. Mizunos have done so well for me that I don't want to change. But if they keep tweaking MY SHOE, I guess I'll be forced to go elsewhere. Mini is the dream dog and gets no respect!

  5. Awwww poor mini-so cute!

I would totally open the trash can-hah! I am so nosy like that and watch to many crime shows-lol!

Mizuno-i swear they keep changing and discontinuing their shoes!! So annoying!!

    1. I want to see what smells so bad! But this also begs the question, shouldn't you hose down your garbage can after a dead body has been in it? Smart criminals would bleach it. I don't want to change from Mizuno but they may force me to!

  6. Yuck, the garbage can! That's creepy, I'd probably have nightmares. Occasionally I will get a whiff of decaying roadkill on a bike ride. Ugh. And usually when I'm huffing and puffing with hard effort so I can't hold my breath!

    1. I try to hold my breath but you can smell whatever that is from so far away, I can't do it. I am running so I'm breathing way too hard anyway. I feel the need to clean their garbage can for them. I can even smell it on days it's not on the street but sitting at the back of their driveway. Are they nose blind?

  7. Yuck that's the last thing you need on a run!! I think everyone is different thus why there are so many shoe manufacturers. Funny you say that about the Ravens those an inspires were very similar a few years ago. I do run in both. I like the inspire 9's the best.

    1. Very true. One shoe is not for everyone. But, I don't like it when they change the one that works for me. The Ravenas were too low in the back and caused horrible Achilles problems for me. They felt great on my feet though!

  8. Aww I would definitely ask to pet both of them, and definitely not ignore Mini, she looks like such a sweetheart! :]. The same thing happens with my dogs and it does get annoying. I have two white boxers, but one of them has a brown mask over half of her face, and so they all think she's super cute. Don't get me wrong, she's cute, but she's also a little turd haha and my poor sweet boy will get ignored over her.

    1. My cute dog is definitely the turd too. He gets away with so much just because he is so adorable. That and he just doesn't know better and never will, unfortunately. HA.

  9. Yes, I hate when shoes change their models! Luckily when Brooks changed my favorite shoe, it still worked for me, but still I'm afraid for when it changes again. Ah poor Mini, people should give both dogs attention, I would.

    1. The seem to change a little something every year and I've still been able to wear them. They've actually had a more narrow toe box before and then changed it back again. I hope they'll do that again.

  10. Oh, no! I love my Mizunos. But I wear three different styles now so hopefully they won't change them all. I was just in Chicago and there were SO MANY runners out at 6 am on Saturday it was crazy. I go there a lot for work and never feel un-safe. On the other hand, D.C. is probably up there on your list but there are parts of the city you just don't go to -- like anywhere I imagine.

    1. I didn't notice if DC was on the list or not. I did see one of my pwn neighboring towns is on it! People should just think before they blurt out stuff. I would prefer a "good luck" instead of "don't get shot".

  11. Man, I hate it when they tweak shoes like that :(

Ha! That is hilarious about Chicago. Don't worry, the areas you will be in for the race are FINE. Ha. People.

And that just makes me sad about your dogs! :(

    1. I can't wait to visit Chicago. I think it will be a great trip. I give extra love to Mini all the time, just to make up for everyone else's insensitivity.
