I Runfess...
I Runfess...
I've been a bit of a Scrooge. Shop, Clean, Cook, Wrap. Bah Humbug. I haven't participated in anything spirit-lifting yet either. However, on my runs this week I really enjoyed the houses in our neighborhood that leave their Christmas lights on overnight. It is so serene and peaceful to run by in the still, quiet darkness and see those houses aglow. I need to remember to turn my own display on before I go for a run! And then get back home before daylight.
I Runfess...
These magically hopped into my grocery cart last week. I can't remember how many years it's been since I ate a Debbie Cake. IT.WAS.GOOD. And please don't ask me about the copious amount of Egg Nog I've already consumed this season. Calcium is good for mending bones, right?
I Runfess...
I'm glad to be running again, even on a limited basis. I will freely admit now how much I dislike pool running. It definitely served it's purpose and highly recommend it if you are injured. But, would anybody enjoy it? I don't think so. But, I'm being pulled to do one more session for old times' sake. I like to meet my goal numbers! I planned to work up to 3 non-stop hours and I only got to 2:45. Argh! I simply don't think I can let that go... How insane is that? You decide.
What would you like to runfess?
Please stop by and join in with your Runfessions!
I had a stress fracture in high school and reasoned ice cream was good for me because of the calcium.
ReplyDeleteGreat minds think alike!
DeleteWow, 2 hours and 45 minutes is still very impressive! You should be proud. And calcium is paramount for keeping bones strong :)
ReplyDeleteThat record may just have to stand for a while. I'm running out of time!
Delete2 hours and 45 minutes of doing something you dislike is pretty impressive!
ReplyDeleteIt's crazy what you will do sometimes...
DeleteWow! 2 hours and 45 minutes of pool running, you are amazing!! Debbie cakes nice! I always eye the peanut butter bars but just can't do it! Calcium is great for mending bones! ;)
ReplyDeleteMy family thought something was wrong! I never buy stuff like that.
DeleteWe are much harder on ourselves than anyone else. Yours shows through the 3 hour goal! Go get it done and mark it off your list, you'll feel better afterwards that you didn't ditch that goal! ;)
ReplyDeleteI think I may have to scratch the 3 hour goal now. There's not enough time to get everything done.
Delete3 hours!? Are you nuts? LOL.
ReplyDeleteOh no...I haven't had Little Debbie's in eons. Now I want one.
I LOVE eggnog. I'm sure you knew that.
Good to hear that you are running again. That's your best Christmas gift, right?
I'm buying an off-brand of Egg Nog (not my favorite Southern Comfort) just to keep me from drinking so much. It's not working. Yes, running is the best gift!
DeleteYeah pool running is a necessary evil, nothing else. But 3 hours? You're a beast! I swear if you can do 2:45 you can do anything. I'd be all over those cakes. Bet they were delish.
ReplyDeleteIt's definitely mental training, if nothing else. I wanted to eat the whole box of cakes! I was able to stop at just one.
DeleteI cannot imagine 3 hours of pool running!! That has to be some record. I think I got up to 45 minutes when I was injured last winter, and that was about all I could handle!
ReplyDeleteThat record is going to have to stand with me for a while. I've had to scratch it -- not enough time for that, and real running, and cycling.
DeleteSometimes those Little Debbys are JUST the thing to hit the spot!!! My hubby loves the Zebra Cakes, which are basically the trees you got but in a different shape and different colored icing. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, they are the Zebra Cakes -- which is why they are so tasty. Thanks for my card through the hop!
DeleteWow, that's a long time to run in the pool...I have thought about pool running, but I've never actually gotten myself to do it...
ReplyDeleteThe hardest part is driving there and making yourself get in. The rest is a piece of Debbie Cake.
DeleteOh yeah! Little Debbie christmas tree cakes! That's a blast from the past! Yum ;)
ReplyDeleteWith a HUGE glass of milk...yummy.
DeleteLittle Debbie cakes....I can't remember what they're called, but my favorites are the white cakes....square little white (not yellow) cakes with white frosting. They come in a double package, but I usually only eat one at a time and save the other for later. #delish
ReplyDeleteI know which ones you are talking about. I'm pretty sure I've tried every variety over the years.
DeleteWhen I was injured over the summer I asked my PT about those pool treadmills and he said that would not benefit me. I'd still like to try it though. Oh and you are a few steps ahead of me cus I don't have my gifts wrapped yet!
ReplyDeleteI forgot they had those water treadmills. I wouldn't know where to find one of those around here. Maybe at a rehab facility?
DeleteLittle Debbie cakes-yums! I can't remember the last time I had one of those!
ReplyDelete2:45- girl! That is impressive! Look at the wrinkles in your fingers! Well done!
I runfess that I am glad. I am in my running off season-i. Was beginning to feel burnt out from running.
That burn out happens to all of us. I think it's important to take a break. Even when they are imposed by injury, you are then very eager and excited to get back to it.
DeleteThree hours in a pool ? I could never do it, I get cold... and bored !
ReplyDeleteThe pool I use is very warm. The sweat rolls down my face. Sometimes they'll open up their big roll-up doors to circulate the cool outside air.
Delete3 hours in the pool? There will be nothing left of you! I would call the pool running good! I am so glad you are back to running, enjoy it! and those little Debbie snack cakes!
ReplyDeleteI am calling the pool running good now. Done. I opted for a real run instead. I figured I needed more time on my feet.
DeleteI would personally give up the 3 hr pool run - geez, I thought I was obsessed with certain things! Ya got me.
ReplyDeleteObviously I'm enjoying those Christmas lights, too - I'll no doubt stop running in the dark when they're gone.
I ended up skipping the 3 hour pool running session. I let go of that obsession. Ahh...
DeleteI never did pool running when I was injured but people seem to find it useful. Any run is better than no run right?!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely. It's a crazy hard workout, actually. I should do it when not injured.
DeleteA holiday fun run would have been the perfect thing! I didn't know anything about the real Little Debbie, not even that she was real.
ReplyDeleteLOL, I love the wrinkly finger pic!!!!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the reminder to get those cakes for Steven - he loves them! I remember how delish they are (wish they were vegan, ha!).
It was so hard to eat just one!
DeleteThe photo of the Little Debbie trees reminds me of C's childhood when I put those in her lunchbox once per week during the holiday season. She loved them, but I thought it was way too much sugar as a daily treat. Scrooge mom perhaps? Getting to 2:45 was a huge accomplishment and will help you get through your marathon. The upside of races is all the other runners out there and that helps if you have not run as long during training as you would have liked. I have been so behind on blog reading due to holiday parties, preparing and house guests. It is fun to be laying low, catching up on blog reading and getting ready for Jan. 10th. PS....we have a new blog name, no longer We Run Disney, but now Two Runners Travel!
ReplyDeleteI was amazed I only ate one of those and stopped. It sure tasted good. I'm hoping I can feed off the incredible energy of 23,000 (give or take) other runners.
