I am Renewed!

According to Oxford Dictionary the definition of RENEW is:

Resume an activity after interruption.

According to Merriam Webster the definition of RENEW is:

To make something new, fresh or strong again.

How appropriate Deb's Wednesday Words always seem to be.  I am RENEWED.  I have finally returned to regular running after a lengthy foot injury.  I am very excited to be back in this place again.  It feels comforting.  My foot feels strong, although the stress fracture left me with a lingering neuroma. Thankfully, I have a wonderfully supportive podiatrist whose attitude is to do whatever it takes to solve the problem.  So refreshing!  I just had a second "whatever it takes" alcohol injection on Monday.  I may just send her flowers after this marathon.

I've never liked making New Year's Resolutions.  But, I do find it exciting to be going into a new year with wonderful opportunities and possibilities.  I definitely plan to RENEW my habit of running half marathons.  Where?  When?  I don't know yet.  I hope I can participate in a few new races and perhaps add a new state or two.  Of course I'll also RENEW my water skiing addiction this summer.  It would also be nice to take a family vacation somewhere we've never been as we'll have another child leaving the nest in the fall.   The possibilities are excitingly endless.  A new year, a new start...a wonderful time to RENEW.

What will you RENEW this year?

I'm linking up with Deb @ Deb Runs for the Wednesday Word.

  1. Glad to hear things still seem to be going well!

I, too, would love to get away somewhere . . . anywhere . . . we will at some point, I know.

I'm hoping to renew some of my creative activities. Not just think about renewing them, but actually renewing them!

    1. It is always hard to board our dogs when we all travel together. And it's an added expense. But we do it anyway. I really want to experience something different this year.

    1. I hope you had a lovely vacation with your son. It's harder and harder to get everyone on the same page as they get older.

  8. Even though we are already 6 days in to this new year, I feel like the start of my new year, new resolutions, re-new's are all going to happen AFTER this weekend. What seems like my whole life the past 4 months have been geared to this weekend. Gosh that is a lot of pressure! We've got a hurdle and a big one at that to jump this weekend. I can only imagine the sigh of relieve or maybe the wailing with tears I'll shed after this is over. I think then I can begin to repair, recover, renew. I think that right there is my post! lol

    1. I agree. This weekend has really been about 6 months in the making for me if you go back to my original marathon training that failed. That can be a lot of pressure. But I'm ready for it to be complete and get back to a normal routine.

  10. woot woot for YOU!! I agree, RENEW was an awesome word for today, and so appropriate. I'm looking forward to renew my love of running "just because" (with no agenda, plan, or "obligations" to dictate what I do in my running shoes). Glad you and your foot are feeling happy ;-)

    1. For some reason, I'm not that anxious to sign up for a bunch of races like I typically do. Maybe I'll chose quality over quantity this year. Maybe.

I am renewing my commitment to strength training. I know I need it and if am going to ask my body to perform, I need to do what is right!!

    1. She made all the difference in the world. Just hearing "you can't hurt your foot, it's only going to hurt you" made a HUGE difference when I started back running. I knew the foot and strong, just a stupid bunch of nerves.

  13. Isn't coming back from injury and having all systems go feel awesome? Like a second chance? I've always felt so grateful to be able to run again after an injury. Your renewal plans sound awesome to me!

    1. It is nice! I may always have a slight lingering nerve issue in my foot, but as long as I know it's healthy I'll be OK.

  14. Seems like "renew" is a great word for you for the new year and is especially appropriate for you right now. I'm so happy that you're starting the year off on the right foot (pun intended!) and I'm excited to see what 2016 brings for you!

  18. I'm not big on resolutions, either. I do like setting goals, and the beginning of a new year does feel like a fresh start. It's a time to renew my commitment to running and to other goals I have in my personal life.
