ABCs Of Me

If you are visiting from the Grow Your Blog Hop hosted by Kristy from Runaway Bridal Planner, welcome to my little southern corner of the world!  I hope you'll visit again.

I've posted a couple of times about me in detail: HoHo Chronicles and Five Things.  You can also check out my Who is HoHo page.  This time, I opted for the much quicker ABCs of me:

Alabama is the college football team we cheer for...Roll Tide!

Big Boys are what we were blessed with.  Two out of three weighed over 10 pounds.

Coffee is my one and only true vice.  I hope I never have to give it up.

Disney was my first half marathon and recently my first full marathon.  Yep, I'm still on this high!

Eggs with cheese is my favorite post long run training meal.

Fitbit Charge HR is on my wrist at all times.

Grandmother names can get no cooler than HoHo.  What started as a joke ... stuck.

Half Marathon is my favorite distance.  I've completed 36 so far with # 37 slated for this Sunday.

iPod Shuffle is so easy to clip on and go!  Music is a big part of my life.

Jupiter is my Half Fanatic moon level.  The next one (Mars) is crazy difficult.

Keurig is the best Christmas present I've ever received.

Lake bound is where you can find me on warm weekends.

MY HAPPY PLACE!

Mizuno Wave Inspire is the best running shoe for me.

Nut Butter (a la Justin's Maple Almond) is my favorite treat.

Outdoors is where I prefer to be, even if just relaxing in the back porch swing.

PoPo is my counterpart, love of my life, and willing boat driver extraordinaire.

Quiche is the family's current favorite Sunday meal.

RRCA recently certified me as a Running Coach.

Swiftwicks are my favorite running socks.

Trek Lexa-SL is the road bike that got me through a recent and extremely challenging foot injury.

Unite with me and MissSippiPiddlin on the Weekly Wrap, a wonderful place to connect with other active women.

Vector EP is my old faithful slalom water ski.  I got very lucky when I found another on eBay.

Water Skiing is a huge passion!  I love to slalom and be anywhere around a body of water.

X this letter out!  Do we really need it?  I think not.

Yurbuds are my headphones of choice, in camouflage no less.

Zebra is the pattern on my favorite running skirt.

MY ZEBRA PRINT SKIRT

Speaking of ABCs...

Today's Wednesday Word is CONFIDENT.  Coming back from a lengthy foot injury (which also contributed to a post marathon ITB issue) my confidence has been sorely shaken. We've probably all known the fear of "what if IT happens again?" when we return to running after an injury.  Today, I'm still not mentally completely over it.  I'll begin to fret about my next run.  {And pray nothing will hurt.}

For whatever reason, the worry dissipates after I hit the pavement.  I realize I'm strong, I'm healthy and I don't have to run gripped with that fear. Yes, something may happen...just as it could stepping off a curb or tripping up the stairs. Honestly, odds are something will {but hey now -- let's hope not for a long time down the road}.  But I'm confident I can handle it, even though I will be disappointed.  I'm confident I'll get through it, just like the other times I've been down and out.  I'm confident I'll return to running again and again.

Tell me three items -- an A, B, and C -- about you!

I'm linking up with Deb @ Deb Runs for the Wednesday Word.

Please visit Deb and the other participating bloggers.  It's fun!

  1. This is such a fun and creative ABC about you, Ms Hoho. Really enjoyed reading it! I agree, returning to running after an injury really does take a toll on your confidence - you just kind of have to trust the moment and the progress, even if it's little and it will slowly come back to you. :):)

  3. Fun post! I know you loved the lake so much. Can't wait for warmer weather! MY ABC for you: I had my APPENDIX removed when I was 7 - emergency surgery it had ruptured; I'm trying to plan my BICYCLE road races for the spring; I made a giant pot of CHILI yesterday which was amazing but very large so we'll be enjoying chili until June.

    1. I make "Mexican" chili quite often. In fact there is some left in the frig from Sunday. I like to put sour cream and cheese on the top.

  5. Gosh, your ABC idea is so clever! I keep thinking I'm gonna do an "ABC's of something" and it still hasn't happened. ANd the things we have in common? Well, to name a few....Wave Inspires, Ipod Shuffle, 13.1's,zebra print, outdoors....I could go on ;-)

    1. I think you are also a college football fan? Yes? I can't imagine staying inside, especially in warm weather.

  6. I do love my Trek Lexa. That bike has gotten me through so much. And it's getting me through marathon training--the cross training is invaluable!

    Water skiing--you and me....

    1. My Trek is sitting on the trainer unused of late. I'd enjoy an outdoor ride though. Sista, if you came here -- PoPo would ski our a$$es off. Come on!

  7. X is for x-training and I actually do enjoy it: swimming, yoga, kickboxing

B is for brunette, and that's what I am (minus the gray), with just a very short detour as a redhead, which I actually really liked but was too much upkeep

C is for chocolate, of course. Nuff said. :)

S is for spiritual. I actually do consider myself a deeply spiritual person, despite the fact that I don't attend synagogue (which I would, if I could talk my husband into it).

    1. I'm so anal Judy, I couldn't use X for crosstraining...cause that's not how it's spelled. LOL!! You don't need to go to a building to be spiritual. Just sayin'. Let's not talk about gray (no--white) hair.

  8. Loved reading this Holly. A for American in Paris... though I have French nationality too. B for Brittany, one of my favorite places in France because it looks a lot like my home state, Maine.... and C for Champagne and Chocolate, my two vices !

    1. Good ones, Karen! I've never heard of Brittany so I'll have to Google that one. But I have heard of champagne and chocolate, unfortunately.

  9. A is for adventurer!
B is for Bubba, my dog's nickname. ❤️
C is for chocolate! I love chocolate!
We share M, N, and T :-) And I love your running skirts!

    1. LOVE you A word. I should have used that one myself. I love to just go and do. If Bubba is your dog's nickname, what is his real name?

    2. Manning :-) Not sure how or why I started calling him Bubba, but he has lots of nicknames.

      Delete
    3. After Peyton? Just guessing. Bubba is too funny. I call my two dogs all kinds of silly names.

  10. I have Yurbuds and I might need to replace them soon. They are definitely showing wear and tear, and I could change colors. I haven't decided yet.

    1. I love their sound quality. But lately the little covers are falling off. I haven't lost them yet. Can you just buy those? I've been meaning to Amazon that.

  11. I am 100% with you on the Keurig, the eggs-n-cheese, the nut butter, and the shaky confidence (I'm working through an injury now, and honestly cannot imagine running any time soon). As for the Roll Tide, well, we are a #WarEagle family so I've got to be confident that you won't hold it against me!

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. Oh no, I won't hold that against you. In fact, we've got to learn to say War Eagle very quickly. Our middle child is going there for their pre-vet program. It's a nice college town! Isn't your daughter there?

  12. We have lots in common! Love my Mizunos and my coffee. HoHo is a great grandma name but I had no idea you were over 50!! You rock mama :)

    1. Don't give up on that marathon. My first one was a complete and utter failure (injury two weeks prior). It'll happen.

  14. Yay for coffee and the guy who smuggled it in to europe in the 1600's... also for the Half Fanatics, Jupiter is hard, you are awesome for getting there, I hope to qualify for neptune one day...

Yippee for a Disney high still happening!

  16. What kind of foot injury? I'm dealing with posterior tibial tendonitis, and I'm afraid it'll take a long time to heal. I have a marathon in May that I'm training for, and I'm not confident (see what I did there? (o:) that I'll be ready in time.

    1. I developed a stress fracture on the top of my foot, and also a neuroma. I "pool ran" and cycled for 10 weeks to stay fit enough to run a marathon. I only had 4 weeks to prepare for that race once I was well. I played with fire.

  17. So happy to connect with you through the hop! I love your ABC's - what a great idea. Haha, Hoho is probably the coolest grandma name I've heard in a lonnnng time. Good for you! I'm not a runner in the least, but I've been reading a lot about the Disney half and it looks like fun! Thanks for sharing about yourself, and I hope your foot heals soon!

    1. The one nut butter I didn't like was coconut. Although I love coconut, it just didn't blend well with the almond butter. I loathe being inside on a warm and sunny day.

  19. Fun take on letting readers learn more about you :) An egg and cheese sandwich is my favorite post-run meal, and my fitbit charge HR is always on my wrist too. What do you think of Half Fanatics? I'm trying to decide whether to throw in an extra Half this Spring in order to qualify. But it would pretty much just be for that reason.

  20. ROLL TIDE BABY!!!!!

I am really considering getting a Fitbit Charge HR.

Mizuno Wave Inspire...the wave 10 were mine until they discontinued them :(

Maybe it will make a comeback in the future.
