It's a rainy Saturday morning here in Dixie. Let's settle in a chat for a while. Today's creamer of choice is Coconut Creme. Yummy.
Over Coffee...
I'd tell you I'm drinking coffee out of my new Starbucks NC mug I purchased after the Gateway to the Smokies half marathon. This is where I got to finally meet the lovely Karen of Running Over The Hill. That race was nothing but tough! Since we conquered those smoky mountains, I had to have a memento.
Over Coffee...
I'd admit I'm a little late joining in this morning. I woke up to steady rain (although there was very little chance of rain today -- go figure). I was quite irritated as I planned to do a swim/bike brick workout. I laid in bed lazily contemplating what to do. Duh. I went outside and swam 30 laps in the rain. I actually enjoyed it. Luckily, I only heard thunder once. Mini, one of my dogs, sat beside the pool in the rain the entire time. I know she loves the rain, but I thought that was awfully loyal of her. Anyway, after a late start at least I did get in a decent swim workout.
Over Coffee...
You'd hear how if I want to still do the duathlon I was thinking about this month, I'd have to compete in the triathlon instead. So few people signed up for the du that they are merging it into the tri. I was told I could walk the swim portion. At first, I thought "Walk? Ha! Easy!" Then I realized (ding ding ding) they meant in the water! It's a shallow 400m swim of 4-5 feet. So I've been testing my swimming skills just in case I get a wild hair to go ahead and do this crazy thing. Eek! So scary.
Over Coffee...
You'd hear how June will be all about mixing it up. I'm trying to give my legs some extra recovery time before marathon training begins in July. Cycling, Swimming, Water Skiing, Strength Training, Planking, Walking, Running -- it will all be there. I may throw some other things in the mix. I prefer outdoor activities over gyms or classes. I'll have to put my thinking cap on. And, hope for nice weather.
Over Coffee...
I'd tell you I was actually out of coffee this morning. Well, we were out of Keurig cups. I had to dig around under the cabinet to find an old school coffee maker. I found some ground coffee (let's just not think about how old it is) and brewed a pot the old-fashioned way. So, now I'm off to the grocery store...my least favorite thing to do. I hope everyone has a lovely weekend.
What would you tell me over coffee?
A huge Thank You to our Ultimate Coffee Date hosts!

You could strap on your belt and pool run the thing! We know you've got those skills!!!
ReplyDeleteOh yes, I've got that skill down pat. It's yoo bad they wouldn't allow me to do that.
DeleteIf you swam this morning in the rain then I think you can do the tri swim in the pool. knowing that it is shallow enough to stand if you need to always makes me feel better. Keep us posted! Thanks for joining for coffee!
ReplyDeleteThe tri has an open water swim in a shallow man-made lake. I guess it is still comforting knowing I could stand up if I get panicked or overly tired. This particular event caters to new triathletes and those who don't swim well.
DeleteI would love your creamer! Speaking of coffee, we have got to have a cup in person, I have this great saying about friends and coffee but I've got to see you in person for it to work. Soon ok!?!
ReplyDeleteAww sweet Mini sticking by your side even in the rain. I bet it did feel pretty good this morning. I did my own brick workout, does it still count that I had breakfast in the middle of my run and my biking? My friend is trying to talk me into a duathlon near the coast somewhere. It's in July so I'm still thinking...
Yeah we do need to get together for coffee (and other beverages). Mini and I both needed a towel when I was done. You've got plenty of time to practice and think about that duathlon. Give it a shot!
DeleteI have that mug - love it! A tri sounds scary to me, but I think you would rock one.
ReplyDeleteA tri sounds very scary to me! I certainly haven't had time to prepare for one. They say this one caters to newbies. So, it's probably the perfect event for me. I love those SB mugs!
DeleteGoing to be fun having so many people training for a fall marathon. I am enjoying mixing it up, but I am ready to start back officially training !
ReplyDeleteI'm going to wait until July to officially start my marathon training. But, I'll start adding back a few more miles probably next week.
DeleteOh heck if you can bang out 30 laps you'll have no problem swimming 400m in the tri! If you get tired you can always walk for a bit to regroup. You've SO got this! We are mug sisters once again. I hope we can score one when we run PCM. : )
ReplyDeleteYeah but it's head out of the water type swimming. I surely don't look like a triathlete. I've seen the PC mug but haven't bought it yet.
DeleteYou can't be out of coffee for our coffee date! I bet you'll do great at the tri! It didn't rain here today but it was humid enough.
ReplyDeleteWhat poor planning on my part! At least I found some, although it tasted bitter. The tri just sounds so much scarier than the du.
Delete30 laps in the rain? I think that qualifies you for the tri! :) Why not? I do love how the dog sat out there the entire time, wonder what she was thinking?? Happy Sunday!
ReplyDeleteMini was thinking "why is my mommy not on her float?" I never swim in our pool.
DeleteIt's been a rainy weekend, which does not fit into my plans! LOL. I hoped to do some cycling but that is one thing I don't like to do in the rain.
ReplyDeleteover coffee (actually, it would have to be a chai latte cuz I cannot stomach the taste of coffee), I'd tell you to go for it & swim! Of course, I'm the swimmer mom who SITS on the bench and watches our son swim the 500, 1000, and 1-mile events LOL
ReplyDeleteThis is the perfect event for a first timer! I just wish I was more prepared. There's not enough time at this point. It's comforting to know I could walk if I needed to.
DeleteWow, can't believe they cancelled the du! How hard is it to stage a 1 mile run before transition? Anyway, hope you still try it. 400m isn't very long so you could swim/dogpaddle/walk and be okay. Just start in the back so you don't get caught up in the nonsense.
ReplyDeleteDo you really think it's doable? I just have no clue. Heck I don't even have all the gear I would need. I need to get busy!
DeleteI think I need more Starbucks mugs.
ReplyDeleteA TRI is really scary but I bet you can do it if anyone can.
I think I'll stick to running.
I do like a challenge even though I'm terrified at the moment. When I see the course I'll be OK. It's the not knowing that panics me.
DeleteAww, your dog is the best! <3 That's so sweet of her!
ReplyDeleteOutdoor activities are the best! :D I've been trying to get a bunch of that in lately too (especially since I currently don't have a gym :P)!
I know some people really enjoy their gym time (one of my co-workers goes twice a day!), but you don't need one to stay active and healthy. I prefer being outside. But, to each his own.
