Runfessions (July)

How do these monthly runfessions roll around so quickly?

I'm linking up with the lovely Marcia today from Marcia's Healthy Slice
Please stop by and join in with your own Runfessions!

I runfess...

My swim pictures from my recent triathlon pictures are hideous.  Hid-e-ous.  It makes me want to never "tri" another.  Almost.  You could seriously bribe me with them.  They picked the worst possible time to snap them.  They were taken as we crested the ladder we were forced to climb to get out of the river. Awkward.  Thankfully, I'm not recognizable and my race number doesn't show. Whew!

I runfess...

Speaking of triathlons, I'm still on the hunt for the perfect clothing.   Tri suits are not flattering to my body type (aka older and wider).  Here's another thing I don't like about the bottoms.  With their extra compression and sewn in chamois crotch, well umm... they already have a Saharan animal's hoof showing before you put them on.  [Get it?]   I can thank PoPo for pointing that out.    And clearly, now that's all I can think about when I put them on.  Sigh.

I runfess...

You know those add-on items Amazon is always trying to get you to add to your order?  Well, I recently succumbed.  I love this little green bottle with it's blender ball whisk.  I want to blend all the things.  I'll also admit to drinking the contents right out of the shaker bottle.  Who needs a glass?

I runfess...

I'll leave you with one last admission.  I am so irritable I can barely stand myself.  I don't know if it's my body adjusting to marathon training, my twitching left eye, my drippy left nostril, my lack of sleep, my age and gender, a stressful job, or all of the aforementioned.   It's not pretty.  I'm in serious need of my weekend water therapy.

Got anything you need to runfess?

  1. Wait, you're not SUPPOSED to drink out of the blender bottle? Cuz I do. All the time. Ha! Oh no camel toe! Have I never noticed this?? It can't be a legit "toe" with the chamois in there, can it? I've got TYR and Wattie Ink triscuits and now I have to go try them on and check. Thanks for linking!

    1. I'm unscrewing the lid and drinking from the rim of the bottle and that's definitely not the intention -- it's threaded. No, it's definitely not a legit toe since it's really the padding that causes it. But, still...not the best look.

  2. I have the same question as Marcia. I drink mine out of the blender bottle bottle too.

I've seen cute items at Betty Designs (http://www.bettydesigns.com/). If I were a tri athlete I would definitely get stuff from there. But for now I will get their socks. Cute.

    1. Yes! Betty Designs has wonderful tri clothes. I just hate to spend that kind of money YET, not really knowing if I will continue this quest. Her clothes are definitely on my Christmas wish list!

  3. Ok, the saharan animal's hoof thing was hilarious :) And I had never heard of a blender bottle before. I'm going to have to look that up. I hope you have a good weekend of water therapy!

    1. Just keeping it real! You'll love that blender bottle. It was very cheap as an add-on too.

  4. I drink out of my blender bottle all the time, it's one of my favorite things. Sorry to hear about your clothing malfunctions, camel toe is not flattering to anyone. Good luck finding something better.

    1. You know it's going to be bad when you can see the dreaded CT before you even put on the shorts.

  5. Preach it, sister. I'm SO GRUMPY! We must be on the same vibe. Same long run in the dripping heat, same crankiness. And know what? I have a pair of running shorts (not fitted, mind you) that also have a Saharan dessert hoof! What IS that?!

    Have a great weekend, lady.

  6. Holly, I strongly believe that race pictures show all the effort and hard work you are putting into your race/ tri! So I bet you sere kicking butt on that picture!

I hope some water therapy this weekend helps with the grouchiness!

    1. I look pretty worn out, ragged and OLD in the swim pic. But yes, you can definitely see the effort is there.

    1. No, it's not. I guess everyone has the same problem but I don't like it, even though I know it's padding.

  9. Tri clothes are rarely flattering on me too. I wore Zoot stuff for my triathlons. They were the most tolerable on me.

    1. I've looked at Zoot and many other brands. I guess I need to keep trying until I find what I really like. I'm sure there'll be a lot of returns.

  11. Oh my gosh--I thought it was just me and the crankiness. I swear, I'm going to be that cranky old lady.

    1. I really like it too! It's better than getting out an appliance to do the job. Clean up is easy.

  13. Oh, I hope you get enough time on the water to cure what's ailing you - or at least to forget your worries for a while! I'm sure you are way more critical of your pictures than any one else would be but I know that I either hate my race pictures or they don't get any of me. That saves me $$ from buying them at least!

    1. I often get completely missed with race pictures too. But you are right, then we aren't tempted to buy any.

  15. With everything that's been going on, the heat, and the humidity, let's just say I haven't been little miss sunshine myself. And no stressful job to blame, either!

I have a blender bottle. Never occurred to me not to drink out of it!

    1. Argh! I think even think to blame it on the heat and humidity! I did try everything else, didn't I?

  16. I usually don't see the photographers! So they catch me scowling most of the time. Not that I'm mad or anything...just FOCUSED. Or trying not to die is more accurate.
