Runfessing Over Coffee

Today, I'm runfessing over coffee.   Let's get started!

My screen saver was taken at the Top of The Rock!
My favorite Starbucks mug was snagged on that trip as well.

Over coffee...

I'd happily report my September running miles were 135 and cycling miles were 106.  There were weekend slalom water skiing and a few swims in the mix as well.  One triathlon too.  It finally dropped below 70 for my morning runs just this week.  Thursday it was a delightful 63 and on Friday a quite nippy 53.  Fall, you have finally given us a little glimpse of days to come.  I thank you.

September blessed us with some stunning sunrises and sunsets.

I'd runfess...

I haven't read a book in ages.  It's not that I don't want to.  I once belonged to a book club and kept a whole stack by my bed at all times.  Nowadays my eyes are so tired at the end of the day and one of them has been twitching for three months, which is not a vision problem.  Pure stress they say. The twitch is not new.  It's something I've had occasionally since my mid 20s.  Once, it lasted nearly a year.  Oh please, not this time!

Over coffee...

You'd hear how I have no pace expectations at the Chicago Marathon.  After the summer-that-wouldn't-let-go, I no longer even know what it is.  I do very much want to beat my previous marathon time.  That will be the goal that I line up with.  Anything better than that will be a pleasant surprise and a huge reward for all that heat training.

I have NO self control over a frosted shortbread cookie.  NONE.

I'd runfess...

Cooking has become how fast I can pop open the plastic container of a Zaxby's Cobb Salad.  At least the chicken is grilled?   Ohhhhh, and now that Panera's Autumn Squash soup has returned?  I see very little cooking in the near future.

Over coffee...

I'd tell you how (yet again) my beloved Amazon has screwed up an order.  I recently ordered Tailwind --  you know, the endurance drink mix?  Guess what I received instead?  An iPad keyboard case.  I don't even own an iPad.    You figure it out.   And I NEED that Tailwind!

  1. Sorry about the mix up amazon order. Too bad it wasn't even anything you could use.
I haven't read an actual book in a while either because my eyes are tired. I've been listening to audio books so I can multi-task while listening!

    1. That is an excellent idea! I don't know why I haven't thought to jump on the audio book bandwagon. Thanks for the suggestion!

  2. Geez. Sorry about the Amazon mixup. My problems with them have been waiting literally months for stuff to come over on a slow boat from China and then when it finally does, it's all water damaged like it slipped off the ship. I just need to look away from that cookie. Thanks for linking up!

    1. My stuff usually comes quick using Prime. This is the 3rd time I've received the totally wrong, off-the-wall, makes no sense, item. I guess the barcodes are similar? Obviously nobody is reading the order.

  3. I just got my Amazon order of Tailwind yesterday - good thing it wasn't screwed up, because we were totally out of it and this Saturday's run would have been GU-reliant...and I haven't had to use any GU for months thanks to Tailwind. Probably wouldn't have been pretty. Hope you get yours soon!

    1. I made the mistake of waiting a few days before opening the box. I'm now totally out of Tailwind. I have none for my long run this weekend. It will be water and GU for me. Oh, well!

    2. I scrounged around in the pantry and couldn't find any old Gatorade Endurance mix either. Sigh.

  4. That's quite a mixup from amazon for sure! I'm all about the quick meals too! Good luck in Chicago!!!

    1. With only one kid left at home, I'm finding it difficult to cook for three. That's my excuse and I'm sticking to it. Ha ha.

  5. The return label on the Amazon box even says Tailwind. How do you screw up something so badly? Oh man...those cookies!

  6. Isn't that Autumn Squash soup wonderful? I was so sad when the Roasted Corn Chowder left, but it was short lived when the Fall selection came back :) I can't wait to here how the Chicago Marathon goes for you - I'll be sending you good vibes - and just know that my marathon training plan has been completely derailed by the unrelenting summer, too! Glad we could virtually enjoy a chat over coffee today haha!

    1. The summer was definitely the challenge but every single step I ran outside. I came really close to (or at) my breaking point! I runfess, a few times. That soup is scrumptious!

  7. Gosh Amazon had me in a tizzy earlier part of the week too! I ordered a product and get email updates like when it is arriving and then when delivered. I got an update saying it was delivered. I didn't stress until the next morning when I realized it indeed wasn't delivered. I tracked it an it was delivered to OH :( I called they started the resolve ball rolling and it was delivered the next day. The mix up was I had received the wrong delivery confirmation. Sigh, I can't get back the time I wasted on this!

    1. It's just probably over this past year that I've experienced mistakes with Amazon. But there again, I'm ordering from them more than I ever have too. They always fix the problem. It's just inconvenient and time wasting, as you said.

  8. Uh-oh! From now on, I'll be opening my boxes from Amazon right away. I get my audio books from the library (and online). Easy!

  9. I had no idea that Amazon stocked Tailwind. I order it right from the source. Plus I love the personalized notes!

    1. I'm such a huge fan of Amazon Prime, that I always look there first for anything I need. I've ordered Tailwind a couple of times without issues. IDK what happened.

  10. You have had a great summer of training, you will do great in Chicago !
And I have never had amazon screw up an order... I didn't realize that could happen !

    1. I was pretty shocked the first time it happened. I've learned my lesson to go ahead and open the box when received. I won't assume what I ordered is inside.

  11. We haven't gotten the wrong thing from Amazon but our mail carrier did lie about delivering our package. I reordered it b/c I thought he delivered it to our neighbors who were away (it fit through the mail slot), but then it was delivered two days later with our mail!

    1. I've a had a few items to look as if they were "delivered" but not show up for another day or two. That is so aggravating. I always worry somebody stole the package.

  12. That's a lot of miles! Nice job. I'm jealous. I also hear what you mean about reading. I have not been able to read like I used to. I have fallen behind on my miles and my reading. What is going on this year!!!

    1. I admit I haven't tried audio books. For some reason, I don't think it would feel the same. But really I don't know -- I should try it.

  14. You have been cranking out some serious mileage! I'm excited to see how Chicago goes for you ;-) Best of luck...since you'll only be 4-ish hours from my house...how about swinging over to Iowa? We have corn ;-)

    1. I know, right? The items are in no way related. One is a food item!

  16. GRRRRRRRRRRR on the Amazon mixup. I am right there with you on not reading any books these days, and not doing anything fancy when it comes to cooking. Congrats on such amazing mileage last month!!!

    1. Anything I do cook is certainly nothing fancy. I need more crock pot meals that don't all end up tasting the same.

    1. I think it's the third time recently for me. This is the first time the items are absolutely un-relatable though. Other times, you could kind of see where a mistake could be made.

  18. Wow great mileage! I am hoping that I can get up to a 100 cycling miles for October! I have a stack of books waiting to be read. In February, I suffered a TBI and it impacted my vision making it hard for me to read for long periods. I really miss reading!

    1. I really enjoy cycling. Fall should be great time of year for that too! Have you tried audio books?

  19. Oh dear, I hope that Tailwind comes soon! Amazon is usually pretty good at correcting mistakes.

I'm still trying to figure out how I ought to pace myself for my half. My mind says it knows it won't be a PR, due to sun and warm, but my heart doesn't always listen.

I have definitely been eating a lot more frozen meals than usual lately. But nothing stops me from baking. A girl's gotta have priorities. :)

    1. I haven't even reordered yet. I knew it wouldn't make it here for my last long run anyway. I used to bake a lot too. Like reading, I just don't anymore.

  20. Oh my, I have never met a cookie I didn't like and I love the Panera autumn squash soup- one of my favs! I order tons of stuff from Amazon but haven't had any problems- thank goodness! That twitch is stress, I get it too. Relax my friend! :)

    1. At least I know the twitch will eventually go away. It's no fun though!

  21. I haven't read a book in a long time either, and I hate that because I do enjoy reading but never make the time for it. I hope your stress minimizes soon!! That cookie...I wouldn't resist that either!

Good luck in Chicago... I can't believe it is less than a week away!
