7 WEEKS and COUNTING

My Week At A Glance:

M   Rest
T    Ran 6 Easy
W   Ran 4 Progressive
       [9:45/9:21/9:07/8:46]
T    Rest
F    Ran 4 Easy
S    Ran 3 (5k Turkey Burner @ 8:32)
S    Ran 16 Slow

Total = 33

I enjoyed a Super Moon six miler Tuesday morning:

Wednesday morning I ran four progressive miles in dense fog:

A lovely package of goodies arrived for winning Zenaida's birthday giveaway!

I enjoyed a few easy miles in the park on Friday morning:

I used Saturday's Turkey Burner 5k as my weekly speed session.
It was great to catch up with running buddies -- like Beth!

I was lucky enough to win first in my age group and
happy to improve a bit for my fastest pace this year:

Sunday's 16 miler was run in a bright new pair of shoes:

I saw no reason to wait until Thursday for pumpkin pie!
There's nothing better fresh and warm from the oven.

Quickly, let me say a heartfelt thank you to my co-host Tricia who graciously allowed me to practice my RRCA Coaching skills on her over the last few months.  She gracefully tackled and overachieved everything I threw at her.  She handled interval training like a boss!  I couldn't be more proud of her performance at yesterday's half marathon.  She took a whopping 10 minutes off her previous time on that course -- in high winds -- and ran the last mile as her fastest.  Oh, did I mention the course had over 650 feet of elevation gain?  Congratulations to you, Tricia!

And that's a wrap (the down and dirty, quick and easy, picture version)!

How will you spend Thanksgiving?
What Thanksgiving dish are you looking forward to most?
Did you (or will you) run a Turkey Trot / Burner?

  1. Tricia and Mary Beth are both proof of why having a coach is such a good idea! I think having someone look at what you are doing, objectively, can really be a game changer! I can't believe how much my running improved once I started working with Becky.

Congrats on that AG award! Man, you are killing it!

    1. Yes, it helps to have someone push you out of your comfortable box. The extra layer of accountability helps too. I probably need a coach myself. I could never place in a big city race. It is what it is... But, at least I'm having fun.

  2. I think Tricia was the lucky one! You obviously did a great job coaching her (not that she didn't have to dig deep, of course).

Mostly I'm looking forward to Thanksgiving being over! Sad, but true. I'm not sure there's any one thing I'm really looking forward to. I plan to run a turkey trot, but it depends a bit on the weather, although right now it looks like it will be chilly, but dry until later in the day.

    I just hope Bandit behaves himself . . .

    1. Tricia really worked hard and I appreciated her attitude and willingness to do so. I'm relieved I don't have to host Thanksgiving. I just couldn't handle it this year. I will do everything I can to help my MIL prepare and clean up!

    1. Mizunos have worked very well for me. Although it's not my all time favorite color, it had been a while since I'd had pink. I really wish they'd do a true red in my style.

  4. Cheers to the 5k slayer! You more than earned that pie. I was thrilled to see Tricia spank that hard course. Kudos to both of you!

    1. Well, as I feared -- I suffered through every step of that 5k. LOL. They will never feel easy to me. I made sure to eat a piece of that pie while it was still warm. Best thing ever. Or at least until the next dessert I stick in there.

  8. Congrats on winning in your AG!!! Oh, and I am glad you got your package. I was a little worried about the waffle but hopefully you're still able to enjoy it.

    Which shoe are those?

    1. The waffle arrived intact! I look forward to trying all the goodies in the package. The shoes are last year's Inspires. Version 12. I try to buy the previous model so I can save on the price tag.

    2. I have the Sayonara and Wave Rider and they're both the previous version . Got them on sale too!

    1. In the south, we call it "dressing" (and we don't put it inside the bird). And yes, I'm looking forward to my MIL's dressing. That and her sweet potato casserole!

  11. The super moon was amazing! So bright! That pumpkin pie looks spectacular. We join friends for Thanksgiving since we have no family locally. I am looking forward to spending time with them. As our kids have gotten older they have ventured into different hobbies and we are all busy running in different directions most weekends. Enjoy your Thanksgiving week Holly!

    1. My parents are both gone, but my MIL still enjoys cooking Thanksgiving Dinner. I just show up with deviled eggs and a dessert. Pretty easy. But I am on the clean up crew. She still makes her grown grandkids write letters to Santa. It's fun.

  12. It seems like you just owned Chicago and now you're back to 16 milers! Love those bright pink shoes - hope they made your feet happy and you certainly deserved some pumpkin pie after that. And based on Tricia's post, sounds like you did a great job coaching :) Well done!

    1. I think Chicago might have owned me -- with that ridiculous fall. I just want to run an very uneventful, well executed marathon. LOL. Is that too much to ask? (Like that's going to ever happen!) I admit I'm at the tired and cranky stage. Hopefully Thanksgiving will be the perfect remedy.

  13. I'm running a 4 miler on Thanksgiving. We've tried out a few different ones over the year and this one gives away wine! After the race we're driving 2 hours to see my husband's family. I'm looking forward to mashed potatoes and green bean casserole. I'm pretty boring! ;) Congratulations on your speedy 5k and another AG win!

    1. What? Gives away wine? Well of course that's the one I'd pick. Ohhhh.... green bean casserole. Love it. But it's a Christmas tradition for us.

  14. Congratulations Coach HO on your speedy 5k and your success with Tricia! She speaks very highly of you as a coach...well, in all aspects, not just a coach! :) I'll be attempting an 8k on Thanksgiving Day. We'll see how this ankle feels as I haven't run in two weeks! It may be slow, but it should allow me to splurge on a little extra dressing! :) Once I get this ankle healed and cleared to get back to "full time running"...I think I may hire you to coach me!! You rock!

    1. I just explained up there ^^^ that we call it dressing in the south. Love me some dressing! I hope your ankle does well and you can get back to a regular schedule of running. I'm always up for a new client ;) Hope you are settling in nicely in your new place.

  15. Congrats to you on your 5K and placing in your age group! That's a pretty sweet medal as well. And hooray for Tricia for being your coaching guinea pig and doing well too. It's always a good time for pumpkin pie and any dessert that's warm from the oven. I hope you have a wonderful Thanksgiving!

    1. I thought they did very well with those age group medals. I've never won a turkey before! Tricia was so nice to be my guinea pig. She ran her weekly intervals like a champ. Shhh...don't tell her I don't enjoy them at all.

  16. Now, I admit I feel like I've run Chicago!! LOL. I'm at the tired and cranky stage of marathon training. I hope I can hold out. I don't look for great results at my next half marathon either. I hope you feel better soon!

  17. Congrats on your age group win! My turkey trot in on Thursday morning and I'll be running it in an Indian costume. I suppose I should try running in it before Thursday - ha!

    Thanks for the link up!

    1. Kudos to you! I've never run in a costume. I think 5k would be the best distance for that. Some people run half or full marathons in very elaborate costumes. I couldn't.

  20. Congrats on your race. And when I see that you are still running long distances like 16 miles, all power to you woman ! I know you have another marathon coming up, but going from one into another calls for some major high 5s ! Enjoy your holiday week. Thanksgiving is an American holiday so France doesn't celebrate but we are invited to a friend's for Thanksgiving dinner. It is not really the same though.

    1. How exciting to be running your longest post-baby race! Down South, we do "dressing" not stuffing. It is not cooked inside the turkey. (Inquiring minds might want to know. LOL.)

  25. Great job on your 5k. I looked for a turkey trot here, but I wasn't happy with the selection. Since Friendsgiving isn't until the afternoon, I have plenty of time to get a run done on my own. I hope the weather's nice on Thursday.

  28. I've wanted to run a Turkey Trot for years, and decided that THIS was gonna be the year. And then I thought about it, and Thanksgiving for me is the one day each year I commit to NOT running. I sleep in. I eat too much. I roll around uncomfortably and then take a nap. What am I gonna get up early in the cold and RUN!? Who am I? ;) I must stick with tradition, so no Turkey Trot for me, again!
