September Runfessions

It's the last Friday of the month and you know what that means...

It's time for Runfessions!  Let's get right to it.

I just got the Fall memo, even though Mother Nature has not!
(A friend/co-worker makes lovely wreaths.)

I've been feeling somewhat guilty about indulging in all things Pumpkin Spice for a few weeks now.  After all, it still feels like summer around here.  But I might have been a bit more irritated than usual after returning from Walmart on a lunch errand this week.  While there I was assaulted by Christmas trees, Christmas music, balls and balls, Santas, tinsel, etc.  It's still September people!  I'm still donning a water ski vest every weekend.

Old vest...
Speaking of water skiing vests, I've worn the same one for mmm...fifteen years?  Twenty?  PoPo gave it to me one Christmas (you know that holiday that arrives in late December...).  But, it's silver patches were peeling away and it had permanent mildew stains.  I do have a newer, pretty pink one but it just doesn't feel right, so I keep it for guests (aka Wendy).  Anyhoo, I finally found the same vest and this time it's yellow and blue.

New vest...

OK OK, this is a RUN-fession post so... I'll say I'm still in that base building mileage phase from my summer pathetic slump scheduled break.   Hence the reason I don't have much to talk about.  And I have nothing, repeat nothing, on my calendar as far as paid registrations go.   Furthermore, I need new running shoes and I don't like the colors that are available.  How messed up is that?

Well, let me scoot.  I need to get started on all things Gingerbread.

What would you like to runfess?

I'm linking with my friend Marcia today from Marcia's Healthy Slice.

  1. HAHA on the ugly running shoe color options! Whenever I see a runner wearing a cute color, I wonder how they got so lucky...all of mine are pretty garish. I was just at Target where Christmas lights and decor was right next to Halloween stuff. ::rolleyes::

    1. The men get the good colors! Why is that? It's that time of year I try to stay out of retail stores. I don't want to see the decorations yet.

  2. That new vest channels the Boston colors...just saying...

    1. You are so right! Didn't think of that. And...something needs to channel Boston since I was so far from it in my last (nauseating) marathon. ;)

  3. Go with the gray/purple Mizunos so we can match at Callaway Gardens. Just saying.

Love the new vest! Now you have to find matching gloves. I'm bringing my own next year! They'll match "my" vest perfectly!

  4. I'm in the market for new shoes as well. I'm currently loving the Brooks Adrenalines...and they (at the moment) have a good selection of colors. As much as I love pumpkin, I pretty much limit myself to pie and bred/bars. Maybe an occasional granola bar. I really do not like it in beverage form (and that's probably a good calorie-saving strategy) LOL

    1. I've never tried the Brooks Adrenalines. I tried the Ravenas and they were NOT the shoe for me!

  5. Thanks for the warning about Wal-Mart -- I am so not ready for that! You know my new running shoe dilemma .... So, are you wearing the new vest now?

    1. Yes, I've tried the new vest. It feels pretty good. I still like the feel of my old one though. There's just something about it...

  6. I will embrace ugly colors for the right shoes. Which is kind of a hoot, considering how many compliments I got on my shoes in the last race. This time they'll just be a light green. Boring but comfy.

I can't believe you've been skiing in that same vest that long!

    1. My current ski is 20 years old too. The manufacturer went out of business but I found a second one on e-bay years later. Wendy skis on it. They are identical.

  8. Ooooh, I get sooooo irritated with stores putting Christmas stuff out so early. I haven't even had the first pumpkin spice anything yet ...still just too hot. We need a half marathon on the schedule before year end ...any thoughts?

    1. I really need something on the calendar. It would probably help with my lack of motivation...

  9. I have broken down and bought shoes in colors I don't love, but then I end up buying new shoes sooner because I find something wrong with the "ugly" pair.

    1. Year ago, it was so easy to order up a pair of the previous years model of Mizuno Inspires ata discounted price. But now, they are just as expensive as the current model.

  10. I have had so many damn pink shoes and I am not a fan of pink. Argh! I need to go shoe shopping soon so let's hope for some nice models ...

    1. Why is so much running stuff in pink and purple? I don't like pink or purple! Give me red. Or lime green. Or yellow. Or orange!
