Friday Favorites

TGIF.  It's time to link up with the DC Trifecta for Friday Five.  Today's topic is Favorites.

This was my very first running apparel purchase. I was training for a half marathon and the weather was turning cooler.  I needed something better than my ratty gym shorts. At the time I was appalled by the price, but they ended up being a great investment.  You'll find them in most of my cool weather race pics Still Today - Six Years Later.

I noticed my feet cramped when I ran double digits so I purchased this pair of socks.  That's a very tight compression band around the arch.  I wore them religiously and still do quite often, especially in cold weather.  I later bought another pair but they gave me huge blisters.  Go figure.  This pair I treat like gold.

This is my current favorite second breakfast each day.  Zone Perfect Bars have more protein than some other brands.

I love arm warmers.  I'm not a fan of racing in long sleeve shirts if I can help it.  There are so many cute patterns to choose from.  I've got two more pairs ordered right now.  Don't tell my husband.

Have you tried the new Triple Zero line by Oikos?   Finally, a Greek yogurt that's not too sweet.  It's my typical afternoon snack.

So tell me -- do you have any tried and true favorites?
Is anybody racing this weekend?

    1. Oops - deleted your comment by mistake. I was going to say I pick a couple of solids out of the colors on the sleeve pattern and wear those.

  2. You are like me with your arm sleeves and me with my running skirts! lol I just did the same thing! I need to look for some Half Fanatic ones though. I didn't know they made arm sleeves!!

    1. Oh, I love my skirts too! I've got a new skirt and a running dress I haven't tried yet. I love my HF sleeves but it's hard to find anything to match them

  3. I love Oikos yogurt and will have to try the triple zero. It must be something new. My favorite new thing at the moment is Oofos thongs. They are super comfy after a long run!

    1. My favorite flavor is Lemon Meringue but it has too much sugar! I haven't heard of Oofos. I'll have to look that up.

  4. All those arm warmers are so cute! My favorite thing these days is coconut oil. I lather it all over after the shower, and it's kept my skin from drying out this winter. I also use it to wash my face. Plus, it's much cheaper than lotion.

    1. These really do help with foot cramps. Unfortunately, you have to try quite a few products to see what works for you. We need to host a swap!

  7. I have recently discovered the Oikos yogurts and have fallen hard for them. I used to be Chobani all the way, but Oikos have quickly become my new favorite. I haven't tried the coconut creme flavor yet, but I'll add it to my shopping list.
I use Balega socks and they're my ultimate comfort accessory now. Can't run in any other sock now.

    1. If it is in the 30s or above, I'm all about the arm sleeves! I can get away with them most all winter with the exception of a couple of races.

  9. I have PF in my one foot, I will have to look into those socks, as I have it in the arch of my foot. I am not a fan of Greek yogurt, I don't like the texture of it. I have heard that's good yogurt though.
No races this weekend, however, my first race of the new season is next Saturday, the 14th. I am ready!

    1. These socks are so old, I'm not sure they still sell them. Wow - good luck on the first race of the new season! Make sure to do a recap. I love reading them!

    1. I just found it a couple of weeks ago. I hope they will make a few more flavors. I've only seen peach, strawberry and coconut.

  11. I make my own arm sleeves - cheap knee socks and I cut off the sock end. Not as pretty as yours but they work and sometimes I just toss them during a race. I love that yogurt too!!

    1. I recently read about someone else doing that. Very clever! I hope they will make additional flavors. I've only found peach, strawberry and coconut.

  12. Haha that's funny that you also have "that" pair of running socks. I even wash mine in cold and don't put them in the dryer! I do that with my compression socks as well since they are so expensive! I love all things coconut so I'll definitely have to try that yogurt. Thanks for the tip. Oh, I bet that would be yummy in my oatmeal!

    1. I won't know what to do when "that" pair finally bite the dust! You know, I never think about yogurt and oatmeal but I love both. Oatmeal is my first meal of the day.

    1. Exactly. You can even roll them up and stash them away.

  14. Great list. I really want to start investing in arm warmers for the same reason.

  15. I treat all of my running apparel like gold! My husband would die if he knew how much some things cost. I need to try the arm warmers and zone perfect bar!

    1. You know, thankfully it lasts a long time. I don't think I've ever gotten rid of anything because of wear and tear.

  16. You can't have too many! They can really change up an old outfit too. I think I have some new ones in my mailbox! HA.

  17. Don't you love when you find a running gear that you love that lasts for years? I have some compression shorts I bought at least 5 years ago, and I run in them quite often in cold weather, and even races that are in the freezing temps, and I swear they feel as good as they did originally:)
But I agree, they cost a fortune, but if they last years. Then I figure it's money well spent, because if I spent $30 on a cheap pair and had to replace them each year, I figure after 5 years I have had more than my investment in them paid off, and in the long run they are cheaper than cheap, if that makes sense, LOL

    1. Makes perfect sense to me. I raced in the same old capris and compression socks today. They both still feel great.

  18. No race for me this weekend. I had one last weekend. I am really loving my Fabletic leggings. They are super comfy and come in great prints and colors. I love workout clothes more than regular clothes. Hope you are having a good weekend!

    1. I was just thinking I need to work on my regular wardrobe (like I do my running one). It's looking pretty outdated. I haven't tried Fabletics yet.

  19. I have a race next weekend, the first one of the year! so excited. I wish I could find more greek yogurts with FAT, I hate fat free. and why do they have to add so much sugar to everything, I don't want it so sweet, I usually end up buying plain and adding my own stuff to it.
I have some arm sleeves but I never remember to run in them.
I used to hate spending a lot of money on running things, but I don't balk now, I just don't buy a lot of things.

    1. I don't mind the fat content. In fact, I usually don't even check that. It's the overload of sugar I don't get! Yogurt does not need 17 to 25 grams of sugar.

  20. I'd say you got your money's worth out of those pants! I have a few tops that have lasted a few years, but I usually wear the same few and get tired of them! You'll have to explain arm warmers to me. How are they better than long sleeves? Do you take them off mid-run?

    ReplyDelete
    Replies
    1. I have very wide shoulders for a female (and the hips to match - ha!). Shoulder seams are always too narrow. So, it's more comfortable to go sleeveless and add arm warmers if needed. I've never taken them off mid run. I've pulled them down a few times.

  23. Super cute arm warmers! I'm afraid to wear them because my upper arms are less than cute, but I imagine I would like it better than long sleeves.

Have you tried Feetures Compression socks? They give some really nice arch support, if you are looking to branch out a little. :)
