I RUN BECAUSE ...
- I occasionally get a cheap, shiny prize
- I enjoy hoarding Biofreeze sample packets
- I can never have enough safety pins
- I sometimes am rewarded with a cookie
- I enjoy unflattering drooling race photos
- It's fun collecting useless cotton T-shirts that don't fit
- I can use the Road ID leaflets to wallpaper a room
- I'm determined to invent a way to re-purpose string bags
I RUN BECAUSE ...
- I'm addicted to the sweat
- I like pushing myself
- It makes me feel strong
- I like to set goals and meet or surpass them
- I enjoy the feeling of accomplishment
- I connect with other strong women
- It helps me cope
- It allows me to obsess over...something
I RUN FOR ...
- the little girl with gangly, long, bowed legs and large knees
- the little girl that was not encouraged to be active, or to really be anything
- the little girl that was excused from PE class all of her life
I AM ... the woman that runs simply because I can

I love the way you sum it all up! Yes, I hear you on the T-shirts and the bling! Happy running!
ReplyDeleteWell, I did have a quilt made out of 64 T-shirts. That got rid of some of them. Ha.
DeleteWhat a great way to do the post. Oh, and I never got a cookie at the end of a race. I'm still waiting on that..lol
ReplyDeleteThat's the best part! I can't believe you've never gotten a cookie.
DeleteI love the way you structured this, from the silly, to the serious, to the significant. I think I can relate to almost every one of these :)
ReplyDeleteThanks. I like to keep it light most of the time, but thought I'd get serious for just a moment.
DeleteI love your list! It was silly and fun, but also very relatable. I run for all these reasons too (mostly for the post-race beer though)
ReplyDeleteHa. Whatever gets us out the door!
DeleteLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOLOL at the first 8 points!!!!!!! All SO TRUE for me too. I was also the girl who had terrible fitness in grade school. It was embarrassing to be picked last for a team in gym class. I still run for that girl, too.
ReplyDeleteI wasn't even in gym class to be picked! So, I always run for that girl.
DeleteAwwww! Love this! Definitely hit me up when you discover a use for the string bags and I'll reward you with a large Biofreeze stash!
ReplyDeleteIt's a deal. I've never used Biofreeze. I'm just collecting it. HA.
Deletegreat reasons - I can identify with them all.
ReplyDeleteYou were a late starter like me. Sometimes I wish I had found running earlier in my life.
DeleteLove this!!!! So many great reasons to lace up those shoes.
ReplyDeleteThank you. I should have also added I run to buy the shoes.
DeleteLove the list. I don't hoard Biofreeze but I signed up for REI's membership because of all the fuel they have near the checkout line. Chews, jelly beans, Clif bars, all of it. It's my new candy stash.
ReplyDeleteI love Clif Bars. I've never used Biofreeze but I have enough for everyone!
DeleteI run to stay sane and to be able to eat what I want! I love food. :)
ReplyDeleteYes, sanity and food. I have to eat every 2 to 3 hours...it's a shame (NOT).
DeleteI love this! I have so many safety pins!! And I love the feeling strong and capable!!
ReplyDeleteI used to say once my glass jar was full of safety pins, I'd quit. Yeah, right.
DeleteOh, my gosh. Please. PLEASE - tell me what to do with all those bags! You could make a million!
ReplyDeleteI'm still thinking ...
DeleteAw, shucks. Thanks.
ReplyDeleteLove this! The "obsess over something" is actually so true for me. It's fun to have something to obsess over! The first list cracked me up!!!
ReplyDeleteObsession is a family trait. LOL. It's best to use it for running than anything else.
DeleteI really love this!!!!!
ReplyDeleteI am also glad to know I am not the only one that keeps the pins, because who can't have enough of them, LOL LOL
I run for many reasons most of them far more humble, but I am going to go on a selfish tout for a min, I run because I love the sense of accomplishment, and I don't mind others noticing, LOL LOL
I absolutely get that. That's what the cheap shiny prizes are for. LOL.
DeleteLove it! And I want a cookie!
ReplyDeleteMe too! Right now.
DeleteLove this! What can we do with the super large collection of safety pins? I do love to run because why? My hubby can't or should I say won't! I like the bragging rights :)
ReplyDeleteI'm thinking about the safety pins...there's got to be something unique there. They are quite pretty and sparkly in my glass dish.
DeleteThis is so fun! I run for many of the reasons you do, except I plan to wallpaper a room with chiropractor leaflets!
ReplyDeleteAbsolutely! And, I completely forgot about the physical therapy flyers. I could do that too.
