I Cherish...

I cherish the solitude of my quiet early route
I cherish cold air, not the heat, no doubt

I cherish the blood that pumps through my veins
I cherish the aches, the joys, the pains

I cherish the sweat that drips from my chin
I cherish a slow run, a PR, a win

I cherish the friends I've been honored to meet
I cherish smooth pavement under my feet

I cherish the music that plays in my ears
I cherish the strength I've gained through the years

I cherish the ladies all nodding their heads
I cherish the support, the kind words they have said

I cherish the smile that it puts on my face
I cherish the adrenaline, excitement...the race

I cherish THE RUN that will come soon I know
I cherish the fact that I'll be able to go

Thanks for humoring me.  I realize it's so...
difficult to take serious a poem by HoHo.

    1. Heck, I'm not talented with words. This sounds like a school assignment in the sixth grade. LOL. I hope it won't be too long now.

  12. That is a rockin' rhyme!

I cherish the mind that writes in a rhyme
To take a good topic and make it sublime.

    1. I appreciate that. I don't go around spouting poetry, or writing it. LOL. It just seemed to develop when I thought about this word.

  20. All kids should be raised like that. My kids have an iPad but that is as far as I will go. No video games, no cable tv. Go play outside. There aren't many kids in the "neighborhood" 4 cousins and two much younger kids. Luckily they get a lot of cousin time and get to work on the ranch in the summers.

    1. Yes they should! My teens like to stay indoors way more than I think they should. I was lucky to have my siblings and a few friends from down the road. You had to make do with whoever you could find to play with.

  22. Sweet poem :) Sorry you're not able to run right now. I'm able to run *a little* but feel the same way about missing the long runs while I recover from plantar fasciitis. Hope you heal quickly and are able to get back to running again soon
