We Are A Hundred! (WW # 100)

You should go and see what Kim has been up to!

Our Weekly Wrap Guest Host Series continues strong.  Thanks to all of you for making it a success.  This week's guest host is the lovely  Kim @ Running on the Fly.  Be sure to hop over to her blog and show her some love.  Please do not just drop a post and run.  The sole purpose of this linkup is to support active women.  Our next guest hosts will be and Christine @ Into the Glimmer on July 9th and Janelle @ Run With No Regrets on July 16th.

Well, the month of June has come to a screeching halt.  It's scary how fast they seem to do that these days.  My running mileage was low, mostly due to a recovery period taken after the Utah Valley Half Marathon.   June's incessant rain didn't help either.

I kept my running minimal this week with only two runs but did incorporate two 15 mile rides on the bike trainer.   There was also water skiing (more on that below).

Saturday morning's mailbox greeting

You may have noticed in my post title that this is our 100th Weekly Wrap link up.  I couldn't pass up the opportunity to write a poem to acknowledge the momentous occasion, now could I?   (No need to really answer that!  HA!)

{Ahem}  {Taps on Mic}

For one hundred weeks now
You've Wrapped It Up With Us
What were we all yacking about?
What was all the fuss?

Connecting active women
Was my & Tricia's main goal
We hope you've made new friends.
Women to share your sole!

Although we're on "a break"
Please know that this is true
We may not always comment
But we're keeping track of you

We cheer in your successes
We're sad when you are blue
We should all lift up each other
It's just what strong gals do

Here's to another hundred
They'll be plenty to talk about
Training, races, working hard
A #holottafun, no doubt

At room temperature with salt

I hope everyone is enjoying their holiday weekend. My grandfather was a farmer, among other things, and taught me that watermelon flavor peaks on July 4th.  Of course, I still believe that all these years later and continue to buy one as part of our celebration.   This one did not disappoint.

I've already been on the lake this weekend and weather permitting will return before the four day holiday ends.  The conditions were ideal this morning.  Due to wind noise, I can never hear what music is playing in the boat while I ski.  I'm always surprised when I see (hear) the video.  This song is certainly not in PoPo's genre, but I guess he just let it play out anyway.

And that's a wrap!

Watermelon...with or without salt?  Room temp or cold?

How will you celebrate the 4th of July?  Any special traditions?

Although the song is ending in the video, can you tell what it is?

  3. Congrats on your 100th Weekly Wrap linkup! I think you were about three months into when I started joining in on the fun!

You're a great water skier, but I didn't expect anything less. When was the last time you wiped out hard? I have no idea what song is playing...

I can't stand watermelon flavor, so I rarely remember to buy one even though Bill likes them... I'm running the Firecracker 5K on Tuesday morning, it will be my fifth consecutive year so these days it wouldn't seem like Independence Day without it!

As always, thanks for the linkup! :-)

    1. Aww...thanks. I haven't wiped out hard in a long time, probably since trying a new ski a few years ago. I did several head over heal flips on it and decided maybe it wasn't the right one for me. LOL. Funny, I don't the watermelon flavor only the fresh fruit. Good luck at your race.

Yes, to watermelon. But I like mine with Tajin, seasoning made with sea salt, chilies, and lime - DELICIOUS!!

  5. Congrats on reaching 100! I'm looking forward to connecting with more of the fitness bloggers on your link up.

I did a trail race last week where they had watermelon with salt. I wasn't brave enough to try it that day but sounds like a promising combination!

  7. Happy 100th! Love the poem! :-) I'm so glad I found your Weekly Wrap and I'm looking forward to hosting next week. I've never had a salted watermelon, but now I must try one! Nothing quite beats watermelon in the summer and that extra salt is helpful with summer running, too.

  8. I've never heard of trying watermelon with salt! I don't mind if it's cold or out at a cookout, it's definitely a summer good. I'm having a cheeseburger with corn on the cob Tuesday for dinner, and now I'm thinking I need to go to the store and get some that morning after my run.

  22. Cold watermelon, no salt. Love love love your poetic talent! I'm really irritated because I can't get my speakers loud enough to make out the song over the background noise.... I am somewhat of a music buff and usually know songs (from my generation) right off. I may have to try and listen from my phone. Thank you so much for all that you and Tricia do to keep this blog going! I have met so many wonderful ladies through it and can't wait to meet even more ....in person!!! xoxo

I love watermelon but the ones you get in the UK are a bit hit and miss. Quite often they are pappy and flavourless, but maybe that's just my luck at choosing the wrong ones!

    Love the poem! super clever!!

watermelon - ice cold, no salt!
4th of July - as you know I'm not in the States so I don't celebrate. When I was first here and I had more American Expat friends we would try to have a BBQ if the weather would allow around the time of the 4th. And... a few times I was invited to the BBQ at the home of the US Ambassador so that was pretty fun!

No idea what the song is!
