What Day Is It? (WW # 153)

Wendy and I host this linkup for
the sole purpose of supporting active women.
We thank you for linking your
FITNESS  RELATED  POST  with us!

************************************************

With July 4th smack dab in the middle of the week, it certainly felt weird.  I didn't know what day it was.  Still don't.  It felt like a Friday every day.  Or Monday.  With weekend plans looming, I had to do my long run early in the week before work which only added to my confusion.

10.9 miles before work on Tuesday!

We spent a lot of time at the lake this week breaking in a new boat.  Hopefully it will be ready for a skier soon.  Because seriously, I've been patient long enough!  At least I've gotten my much appreciated and very necessary water therapy.

Something (someone) is missing...

An amazing lake sunset on July 4th!

I didn't run again until Friday morning.  I'd been battling a sore throat since Tuesday and although it wasn't any better on this run, but it felt good to sweat it out for 5.4 miles.

Mailbox Greetings!

Adding to my what-day-is-it disorientation, our weekend consisted mostly of sitting in the heat watching baseball games.  Our grandson's team is in the state little league championship playoffs.  So far, so good.  They won their first game 15-4 and the second 9-1.  As this goes live, we are watching game 3.  I'm sad we'll have to travel home tonight and miss his final games.  However, I'm pretty sure Monday will feel like a Monday all day long.

Go AUM Green!

Still feeling under the weather, I ran Sunday morning on the hotel treadmill.  I only mention this because I can't remember the last time I did so.  My best guess was maybe 2013?  Being honest, it was just as miserable as I feared, especially since the air had been turned off all night in the fitness room.  I might as well have run outside in the feels-like 90 degrees morning heat.  Four miles was the best I could do.

I had to document this as it
may never happen again.

And that's a wrap!

When is the last time you ran on a treadmill?

Are you a baseball fan?  Does anyone in your family play?

  1. I enjoy baseball, but seldom ever get to a game. Our son played when he was young, and our youngest daughter played softball until high school. Oh gosh...I spent all of Thursday at work asking people how their weekend was (because I kept thinking it was Monday). And the treadmill? My theory is that a TM run would be every bit as hot and miserable as an actual run outside in the heat (and a whole lot more boring)...so I just head outside LOL

    1. Our hotel was on a busy highway with no sidewalks and I didn't have time to drive to a local park with trails, so the treadmill it had to be.

  2. Urgh treadmill running - I don't think I've done it since about 2013 either! I trained on one over an icy winter for a half in the April - ran only on the treadmill with all the different gait that implies, went out on the roads for a long one (fool) and tore a calf muscle, unsurprisingly. I do walk on them and have through recovery from two medical things, but I don't run on them. Also my gym is super-hot (the yoga studio is cool, thank goodness).

And no baseball here as I'm in the UK. Not really much sport at all - my husband does half his commute walking and does c. 12000 steps a day and my brother-in-law runs but not as much as me.

    1. The real reason I don't use the TM is because it bothers an old Achilles injury. It is amazing how different I run on one. It's almost as ig it's a whole different activity.

  3. Running on a treadmill without AC sounds pretty awful! I feel like now when I choose the treadmill to avoid running in the heat its just as bad as being outside, because its stuffy and humid in my basement. Great job getting your long run done early in the week!

    1. I swear, it was over 90 in that fitness room as its wall of windows faced the morning sun. Why would they turn off the A/C overnight?

  4. I totally feel you on the 'mill run! But you got some miles in and that's what counts. We're heading back into the humidity tomorrow. Yep, it's going to feel just like a Monday!

  5. LOL on documenting your hotel misery. Sometimes hotel gyms can be very depressing -- especially warm ones. Congrats to your grandson! I'm sure he was glad you were able to watch some of the games. Last week was insanely busy at work, which made it even more confusing!

    1. There were three pieces of equipment in this tiny gym. I guess I should feel grateful one was a treadmill.

  6. I'm trying to avoid the treadmill right now, but I know it won't be possible the whole summer.

    1. As much as I complain about our heat, I still prefer run outside. All the reasons why I dislike the TM came flooding back during that run.

  7. I just taught a Fitness Machines 101 class this afternoon at a local 55+ community and they got a kick out of me calling the treadmill a dreadmill. ;-)

I hope your grandson's team continues to do well! Good luck to them! How fun that you could go to at least some of the games.

When will your boat be broken in so you can ski? I'm missing your skiing pictures, but I bet you're missing skiing even more!

    Thanks for the linkup!

  8. I was confused as to what day it was as well! Maybe from the heat ha ha. It's been years since I have been on a treadmill as well but I was tempted this week bc of the heat.

    1. As hot as it was in the fitness room, I would have been better off running outside anyway.

  9. I hope you feel better soon! I was feeling a bit under the weather earlier this week - wasn't sure if it was a cold or allergy probs. It was so humid this week it made me think of you! "Swimming" through the air... uffda. Even my eyeballs were sweating ;) haha. Your lake views look absolutely gorgeous!

  11. So sorry that you aren't feeling well and I hope that you start feeling better soon

I was also very confused about my days this week lol. That always happens when a holiday falls in the middle of the week.

  12. I hope you feel better soon! I don't even work & having the 4th on a wednesday still felt weird.

I was last on the treadmill on Thursday. :) It's much better in your own air conditioned home with a nice large tv that you control!

I hope your grandson's team does well. I'm not much into any sports; Mr. Judy likes baseball but doesn't watch it often & doesn't play.

  16. Hope you're on the mend soon - summer colds this year have been the worst. Oddly, I don't mind hotel treadmills. One in particular near my brother's (luckily, now former) apartment is the worst though as it's manual.
Never thought of a boat as something that needs broken in- wow, what a sunset you were treated to.

    1. You aren't supposed to operate a boat at full throttle for so many engine hours. And, I slalom water ski which requires full throttle operation to get me out of the water. That's probably more than you wanted to know. LOL.

  17. Hope you feel better soon! I last ran on a horrendous hotel gym treadmill about 6 weeks ago. It was so similar to the way you described yours. The least they could do in those cavernous hotel gyms would be to turn the AC to a normal temperature.

10 miles before work. You are a rockstar.

  19. I hope you feel better soon! As a Minnesota runner, I'm on the treadmill a lot, and last summer I spent 6 weeks in India and did quite a bit on the treadmill. At least it's still running! Not quite the same joys, but a necessity for me.

  22. It was such an odd week! I should have taken the whole week off from work like the smart people did. I think I ran on the treadmill once or twice over the winter. Before that it was in PT last fall. I hope I won't have to do it again until January. The treadmill that is, not PT!

    1. I run so differently on a TM than I do outside that I try to avoid it at all costs. It actually aggravates an old Achilles injury I have. I think I fight the belt -- if that's possible.

    1. We've spent a lot of time at baseball over the years. But our oldest (the now coach) loved it more and played more than our other two. So I guess grandson got the bug honestly. Well, my sore throat is now at the hacking up a lung stage. I can't remember the last time I was sick...

  26. Funny, I hopped on (and quickly off; I only made it 2 miles) my treadmill the other day for the first time in years! All 3 of my boys played baseball and were very good at it, but then found different sports in high school. They all wound up doing cross country, track, and of all things, pole vaulting! My middle one went to State for that. The younger two also played football. The middle one's team went to the State final his senior year but lost, and the youngest one's team won the State final his junior year. Such exciting times, and how fun that you can see your grandkids play! Good luck to them in the finals!

  27. I have been thinking about the treadmill a couple times this past week...but forced myself outside. Heat training in high gear! I have been feeling a bit off lately...and I think I experienced a "summer cold"...no fun whatever it was. My week of running (and sleeping) has been off since the mid-week holiday - maybe I can get back to a routine this week :)

  28. Ugh, hope you feel better now! Your lake photos are beautiful. I do use the treadmill fairly regularly, maybe once or so per week. And when I'm traveling, I try to get out and run to see the area but not everywhere is suitable. I did run on the treadmill at my hotel this past week but thankfully they had a beautiful gym.
