Welcome to Coffee Talk!
I've always enjoyed linking up on the monthly Ultimate Coffee Date hosted by Coco and Deborah. Sadly, my blogging time has been limited lately and I haven't been able to. So, I decided to shake things up a bit and post my Coffee Talk today instead of my usual Weekly Wrap. I've got some peppermint mocha swirled into my steaming new HoHo coffee mug. The Christmas tree is glowing and the smooth holiday tunes are being supplied by James Taylor. Let's chat for a while.
This may be my new mantra!

Over Coffee...
Other than Wednesday's 5.2 mile progressive run, there was little other activity. Wait! Unless you count dusting, scrubbing, mopping, raking, raking, and raking some more. If so, I am an overachiever; a downright Olympic Champion. Our house is still on the market. It reality, it hasn't been that long but it sure does feel like it.
Over Coffee..
Although I'd admit I didn't do as much as usual, we did decorate our house for Christmas. Traditions are traditions, after all. One tradition I began way back in the dark ages, aka our honeymoon, was to collect ornaments from the places we visit. While recently decluttering the house, I found this one tucked in the back of a drawer. I can't for the life of me remember where it came from.
Over Coffee...
On the subject of raking, I'd tell you our fall color peaked this week. One of the prettiest trees was in our own yard. Our Japanese Maple makes a beautiful fiery red display [the backdrop of last week's race medal] and then just drops its leaves in the blink of an eye. Personally, I think it shakes like a dog when nobody is looking. These leaves we haven't raked. They are too pretty.
Shake -- BOOM -- Done |
Over Coffee...
Speaking of dogs, I'd report that I sprained my ankle in a scuffle at the park. Rocky -- our 85 pound adopted boxer mix -- and another dog were having an ummmm disagreement, so to speak. Anyway, it's the front tendon and I don't think it's too bad. But this, and the non-stop heavy rain, had me choosing not to run in Saturday's local Jingle Bell 5k. I hope my ankle doesn't force me out of the half marathon I'd like to run next weekend.
I'm so ashamed of myself, Mom. |
Over Coffee...
I'd ask if you've gotten as last minute and wishy washy with decision making as I have. [Let me go ahead and apologize to the running buddies waiting on me to make winter racing plans!] We thought we'd spend the weekend away for my next half marathon. But now I'm not feeling it, especially with an iffy ankle and a neighbor dog's vet bill looming {bad dog, Rocky!}. Much closer to home, and drive-able the morning of, I've found a Christmas themed race instead. It's looks very small town but also quite festive. The price is right and I need the practice for the half marathons I'd like to run in early 2019. Now, if I can just decide what to wear...
Thanks for letting me join in on coffee, ladies!
And that's a wrap!
Wendy and I host this linkup for the sole purpose of supporting active women. We thank you for linking your FITNESS RELATED POST with us! |
If you like coffee, what's your favorite flavored creamer?
Tell me something random from your week!
How exciting! Do you have a new home picked out or are you waiting to see if you sell your current home before making the decision?
ReplyDeleteThanks for the linkup!
Yes we made an offer on another home in October. We just need to get this one sold so we can move in!
DeleteI'm running a Holiday themed 5k next Saturday. Kinda bummed that the snow will pretty much be gone, but the temperatures are going to be wintery. Should be fun, tho!
ReplyDeleteWe also collect ornaments from places we've been. I can barely get them all on the tree. I guess that's a good thing!
It's looking like heavy rain for next weekend's holiday half. I'm not sure I'll drive that far to run in the heavy rain. Sigh. We don't put all of our ornaments on the tree any longer. I guess I could put up two trees.
DeleteI feel you on missing some of the wraps. You'll see my post is a weird hybrid of all three. Japanese Maples are the absolute best, also sugar maples. Wish we had more of both in the city
ReplyDeleteHope your neighbor's dog and Rocky are OK.
There are many weeks where I don't find what I did to be very interesting! I love all types of maple trees.
DeleteIt does feel like forever when your house is on the market and it's so hard to keep it looking pristine too. I have a holiday 15K next weekend so hope our weather cooperates too. Any interest in running the cherry blossom 10 m in April
ReplyDeleteI'd love to come to DC and run Cherry Blossom but my life is so up in the air at the moment -- I'm scared to make plans right now.
DeleteI hope your ankle is ok! We've been having so much rain this past week (and it's still raining as I type this). I'm over it!
ReplyDeleteI'm over the rain as well. My ankle is better and I think it will be OK in another day or two.
DeleteOh no! I hope your ankle heals up quickly. We've sold two homes, but never while we were actually occupying them -- I can't even imagine.
ReplyDeleteYour Japanese maple looks lovely. Our trees hold onto those leaves for dear life, usually. Takes forever for them to come down. Thankfully the last few years Mr. Judy tackles them mostly with the lawnmower & I've hung up my rake. Cause I loathe raking.
The 5k I skipped was also a Jingle Bell. Neither me nor my friend that I've done it with before were feeling it.
Imagine removing your dogs and any evidence that they live there each time someone wants to see your house. It is a lot of hard work!
DeleteWe buy ornaments as souvenirs too - today I had find the one I bought at Yellowstone this summer! Bummer on your ankle and the vet bill. Must have been some dust up. ;-) That tree is gorgeous. I'd leave the leaves to look at too. Please add your link to the coffee date link-up -- it's still open until late tonight. ;-)
ReplyDeleteI was embarrassed how bad Rocky acted. He apparently does not like that particular breed? He is never acted like that since we've had him.
DeleteI hope your ankle heals quickly! Oh, we love our dogs, but they sure can be trouble sometimes. Poor Rocky.
ReplyDeleteYour tree is so pretty- wow!
Good luck with the decision making on races :)
Rocky has been in the dog house. LOL. It scared me how quickly he reacted and how I was unable to control him (other than tackling him). He is very big.
DeleteI fear I'm annoying my friends by havering over the Liverpool Marathon at the moment. I know I won't have got a club ballot place for London but part of me still thinks I might have (I find out next Saturday).
ReplyDeleteI have a maple that does that too. Once literally overnight!
Good luck with London! I've been trying to get into NYC for a few years and haven't made it.
DeleteOh, bummer on the ankle!!!! I have both of our trees up, ribboned and lighted...but no ornaments, thus far. Honestly, from the street, they look just fine ;-) Random tidbit-->I also put ornaments on my (dead) ficus tree in our sun room. I spray painted the tree black, so it's actually quite an interesting art piece now ;-)
ReplyDeleteMy mother in law decorated a dead tree for years. She'd pick one out of the woods and just bring it inside. Her tree topper was always a crow. It was actually quite pretty!
DeleteGood luck on next week's half. your Christmas decoration of unknown origin is so pretty! It's a shame you can't remember where it came from, but it looks great! :)
ReplyDeleteIt could have come from a number of tropical vacations. Or, maybe it was something on a clearance rack at Walmart! I like the first scenario better.
DeleteWow that tree! It really does look like you just shook it haha. I hope your ankle gets better.
ReplyDeleteMy ankle is much better today which has me hoping it will be well in another day or two.
DeleteOh no! I'm so sorry to hear about your ankle. I think that you're playing it safe by doing a race closer to home.
ReplyDeleteIf it will just not rain! We've had so much weekend rain lately!
DeleteYikes! SO sorry about your ankle. I hope it's not too bad. Wherever that ornament came from it sure is cute! I love Japanese maples! We had one in our front yard but no longer. I miss it. Your fall colors are gorgeous. It's felt like full on winter here since about October. :(
ReplyDeleteI used to decorate ours with lights for Christmas. But then I learned the leaves fell off quickly soon after and it didn't look so pretty any more.
DeleteSorry about your ankle! Hopefully it will heal quickly!
ReplyDeleteWe have two Japanese Maples in our year and I just love the color they turn right before the leaves drop.
We have another, more traditional, maple in our yard as well. It's gotten old but it once had beautiful orange leaves.
DeleteYikes! I hope your ankle is OK. I sprained my ankle plenty of times. Love your fall colors!
ReplyDeleteI've sprained my ankles more times than I care to think about. That's how I knew this one didn't feel too serious. It is much better now. Whew!
DeleteSorry to hear about your ankle. Hopefully it feels better by next weekend for you race. I do have one holiday race coming up this month but that's it!
ReplyDeleteThe ankle will be fine by Saturday. It's already much improved. But with heavy rains forecasted, I'm probably going to skip the race anyway.
DeleteLove Japanese Maples! Sorry to hear about your ankle sprain! Good luck in your race!
ReplyDeleteIsn't it amazing how red they get right before dropping their leaves?
DeleteI know what you mean about how doing stuff around the house can feel like a workout! I hope your ankle is ok. Those leaves look beautiful!
ReplyDeleteI swear, next time I rake I'm going to wear my Garmin to capture my HR data. LOL.
DeleteI love your tree! I definitely count chores as workouts!
ReplyDeleteHope the ankle is better quick.
I think I'm become quite accustomed to raking. It definitely counts as an upper body workout.
DeleteYikes, I hope the ankle is better soon! And I agree, it sounds like the chores should definitely count as a workout, you did a lot :)
ReplyDeleteRocky as been extra sweet this week. I think he knows...
DeletePoor Rocky! And poor you! That shame face is real! I hope you heal up quickly!
ReplyDeleteI prefer iced coffee, which is tough in the colder weather. Sometimes I'll have a peppermint mocha from Starbucks. With whip as a treat :)
Sorry you've had a hard time committing to plans, lately. I think it's hard this time of year, with so much going on, and it's harder if you're not feeling 100%.
I love iced coffee too! Way down here, it's understandable we would drink that more than hot coffee.
DeleteI like the idea of collecting souvenir ornaments - may have to steal that one and make it tradition for my family! Ours are mostly non-breakable homemade ornaments this year as the baby has a knack for un-decorating and redecorating our tree :)
ReplyDeleteI can remember the "less decorated" trees I would decorate when my kids were tots. I put nothing at all on the lower branches. LOL.
DeleteFunny that you don't know where you got that house ornament from - it looks memorable! Jamaica maybe? We do buy ornaments as souvenirs from our trips. I enjoy remembering all of the adventures we had. Coffee creamer - Salted caramel chocolate. They have all of the best flavors at my office :)
ReplyDeleteJamaica or the Virgin Islands? But I already have other ornaments from those places. But I have been known to buy multiples. I need to try salted caramel chocolate!
DeleteThose are some really pretty fall leaves! We actually had fall colors this year! Usually they change at the end of January or just fall off.
ReplyDeleteI hope your ankle feels better and you can do your race!
I have a few ornaments from trips, and I love the memories from them!
The ornaments are memories for me too. But, it's sad when you can't remember where they came from! LOL. I should always just buy ones with the location name on them!
DeleteI hope your ankle is okay! Poor Rocky and poor you!
ReplyDeleteRocky has been in the dog house all week. Ha ha.
