And That's A Wrap (WW # 186)

One hundred and eighty six times I've posted a Weekly Wrap.  Actually, InLinkz tells me it is 187.  I'm off somewhere.  No big surprise there.  Anyway...

Tricia of MissSippiPiddlin and I met at the Tuscaloosa Half Marathon and became good friends.  I approached her about joining me in hosting a link-up where active women could connect.  I wanted to fill the void left by the closed Weekend Update but for more accountability, decided to include the entire week.  The Weekly Wrap was born in 2015.   The sunset photo was from a vacation picture taken while waiting on the Jamestown Ferry.

Right away, we had 14 linkers and peaked in 2016 with over 60 most weeks that year. Our highest was 69, recorded several times.  Several hundred ladies have come through our virtual doors!  Tricia accepted a new job and found the volume of reading to be a challenge.  With her blessing, I approached my dear friend Wendy from Taking The Long Way Home, who stepped in seamlessly to fill Tricia's shoes. Wendy and I met through blogging years ago and have by this point been on many fun adventures.  The new badge photo was taken on the lake where I now live.

Wendy and I have a lot on our plates.  She is studying for a new medical certification and I am busy getting our new home ready for family weekends...in addition to our usual careers, obligations, running, training etc.  After much deliberation, we've decided to end the Weekly Wrap.  Since I'm not running or racing much right now, it's hard to post on that subject, anyway.  [HoHo Runs...not.]  I also don't want to spend excessive time inside this Spring and Summer (or Fall) on my computer.  Am I closing down my blog?  No.  It's my running scrapbook.  And, I may occasionally see you on Marcia's monthly Runfessions or Coco and Deborah's monthly Coffee Date

There are other weekly link-ups around.   Jenn from Runs With Pugs is co-hosting the new #RIOTS.  Meranda and Lacey host Fridays with Fairytales & Fitness and Kim from Kookyrunner and Zenaida co-host Tuesday Topics.  Plus, there are many others around as well.

Blue Herons apparently poop a lot...just sayin'.

I have no races scheduled other than my hometown half marathon -- which I plan to switch to the 5k.  I've been running sporadically for a while hoping my lingering hip and piriformis issues will calm down.  Since I'll be snow skiing in Colorado soon, my return to consistent running can wait until after that.   My new neighborhood (if you can call it that!) roads are filled will huge forested hills.  I look forward to watching the seasons change on foot and on my bike.

It's been my pleasure meeting you -- quite a few of you in real life too.  We've celebrated victories, laughed, shared, encouraged one another, healed our bodies, commiserated and cried.  It was my honor.  I consider you all friends.  A special thanks to my sista Wendy for hosting with me [who can somehow impressively read the most blog posts before I can convince myself to get out of bed.  Cheers, my friend! ]

THANK YOU for joining us here on the Weekly Wrap.

  1. I don't blame you for not wanting to spend so much time on the computer. Sounds like you are enjoying the new house and your neighborhood - take care and post whenever you want, I'll always read whatever you write. :)

  3. Oh, Holly ;-( This is a sad moment in blogging history, but I totally understand. I have SOOO much appreciated this weekly conversation (with you and countless others), and am even more thankful for getting to hug you in person on that rainy July weekend in Chicago. Cheers to your new home and all the adventures that await you ;-) XOXO

  6. I know that this linkup has been both a blessing and just a bit of a burden for you, but we will all miss it so much -- you have built something very magical here. But, as they say, to all things there is a season, and maybe now we'll actually be able to read more of your poems and blogs.

And if not, then I hope that life continues to be adventurous and fulfilling for you.

  7. I am so sad to say goodbye to this Weekly Wrap community but I completely understand! Even just filling in those two times has helped me to see how much you and Wendy do each week. That's a lot of commenting to do :) Thank you SO much for bringing this great group of gals together. And thank you, Wendy, and thank you, Tricia! This group has been the best <3

  9. The end of an era for sure. It's amazing how these years have flown. I totally get that the Linkup must end. We felt the same with Tuesdays on the Run. All the best settling into your new home and with your Colorado adventure!

  11. It's been so fun getting to know you through this link-up! And I'm with you on the running. This Nana hasn't been doing much of that at all. Meh. We all go through seasons and once the dust settles and the weather warms up, I'm sure we'll both be logging enough miles to keep us happy. :)

I'm still trying to wrap my brain around 5 years worth of link-ups. That's incredible! Thank you so much for doing that!!

  13. I'm so sad this is finishing but completely understand why. It's been such an inspiration for me to find and follow so many brilliant women runners and bloggers - I've added lots of you to my Feedly feed so will keep in touch that way (I have taken my own eye off the blogging and blog-reading ball this week, mind!). Go well!

  15. Like many other commenters, I am sad to see this link-up end. It has really been an awesome one, exposing me and connecting me to so many inspiring women. But I can totally understand how much work it must be. I was always amazing that you two seemed to read EVERY blog that linked-up. That's incredible!

Good luck in the next chapter!

  16. I'm sad to see the link up go since it was a great spot to keep up to date on everyone's running. BUT I totally understand. It's a lot of work. I look forward to catching up with you whenever you post. Best of luck and enjoy your new running and biking routes!

  20. Thank you so much for hosting! I've loved reading all of these blogs over the past few years. I'm sad to see it go, but I definitely get that life changes.

  21. Thank you Holly for co-hosting the weekly wrap! I know it's a lot of work and we all appreciate that it's been around for so long. For bloggers like me it's been nice to have more than one or two comments (or none haha!) but I have a pretty busy schedule myself and often found it challenging to hit up the majority of the links. THANK YOU and enjoy your new place on the lake!!

  22. Judy said it well, it is a blessing and a burden. I totally get it, you want to enjoy life and not feel obligated to spend x amount of hours on a computer everyday! I am so thankful gave me a chance to meet you and you have always been a source of inspiration to me and that won't change :) The stressful part is over enjoy the new house!

  23. This is the one link up I always managed to find time for. I am going to miss it so much :(

Sometimes, real life gets in the way of our blogging goals (as it should be, I guess). I hope to continue following you and see where your running and new house take you!

  25. I was not expecting this at all. You, Tricia and Wendy have supported me since I started running. I've learnt so much from you as well as from all the lovely ladies who link up each week. You've kept me accountable as I tend to fall under the radar at times. You've kept me focused and committed to my running journey. THANK YOU so much for all the hard work you've put in to this link up. Wishing you all the best in your new home and this new stage of life.

  27. I am so sad to see the Weekly Wrap end, but totally understand where you're coming from. Even though Wednesday Word didn't have the following that this linkup had, it often kept me from writing because I was reading. I've loved getting to know so many other like-minded bloggers through Weekly Wrap, and thank you so much for introducing them to me! I wish you nothing but the best as you settle into your new home on the lake and hope to see the occasional blog post from HoHo Runs pop up in my inbox! Hugs!

  28. Although I'm one of the newbies, I will truly miss the Wrap community. But setting up a house and playing outside are two great reasons to make it a wrap. Glad it's ending for good reasons. BEst of luck and hope to see you around the linkups. I'll think of you on an Alabama road trip later this spring.
