I runfess...
I puddle. Uh huh, I do. Not from bladder control issues (not yet anyway) but from good old sweat. When I return from my morning runs, I stand at my kitchen nook. It takes me a couple of minutes to save my Garmin info, sync my Fitbit, hydrate, and take my shoes off. When I head upstairs for my shower, I leave this huge puddle on the kitchen floor. Please tell me, you puddle too?
I runfess...
I finally hung my half marathon medals where you can actually see them. I received two new medals racks for Christmas and have been intending to take care of this (yeah, I've really been slacking). I ended up not using either of the new racks. I decided to save the beautiful wooden maple rack my husband made for my marathon medals. The other metal "BELIEVE" rack I asked for just doesn't hold squat, even with 2 extra extension bars. So, I went with $9 curtain rods purchased at Walmart. {Well there's a runfession it itself. I've gone twice in one year!}. The rods extend so I have plenty of room to add to my collection. I runfess, I want to run a half marathon...like right now.
I runfess...
When I checked the weather this morning before my run, I shed a little tear. Mr. Dew Point was 68 degrees! The temperature was still 75, but the humidity only 84%. Only 84%! That's simply unheard of here in late July. I busted out a pace 46 seconds faster than yesterday's run and 1:06 faster than Tuesday's run. You see on Tuesday, Mr. Dew Point's evil twin Mr. Doo-Doo Point had taken over and given us the swampiest day yet. I runfess, I did a happy dance out in the street at the end of my run. Without that first I'm-still-asleep mile, I averaged the entire run at a sub 9 pace. Do you know how long it's been since I've seen a number that begins with an 8? Oh, and you'll be happy to know I puddled less today too.
Do you have anything you need to Runfess?
I'm linking up with Marcia today from Marcia's Healthy Slice.

I don't puddle, but there are times I could use a towel when I get in my car after the gym. Kind of like when you came home from the pool as a kid, but mine is not pool water.
ReplyDeleteI should keep a towel handy for the kitchen floor. But, I'm pretty much a zombie when I leave house.
DeleteI definitely puddle, too. Under my bike on the trainer, for sure. And after any outdoor activity it takes me time for my body temp to come back down to something that isn't sweat generating. I LOVE the curtain rod idea for hanging medals. I have really been struggling with this. I moved 9 months ago and my medals are still in a shoebox because I couldn't quite figure out how to display - my old medal holder just didn't have enough space.
ReplyDeleteI takes me a while to cool down too. It's why I don't dry my hair right now. Too hot! I bought the 48-84" rods so they can be expanded from 4 feet to 7 feet wide as needed. They make smaller rods too.
DeleteI love the curtain rod idea. Mine are on hooks so they all overlap and you can't see each one. We don't have half that humidity but my runs are in the 12's. At least I run faster in races.
ReplyDeleteMine were previously on hooks and you can truly only see one medal with that type of set up. I was hoping this would provide me with some much needed motivation.
DeleteI puddle as well! It actually forces me into a good stretching session because I stretch on the stoop outside so I leave my puddle out there! And I am also impressed with the curtain rod idea! It's hard to find a non hokey medal hanger.
ReplyDeleteThat's an excellent idea! Stretch and puddle outside. I'm usually pressed for time to get in the shower and get to work. The rods were inexpensive and easy to install, because I asked my husband to do that. LOL.
DeleteAhhh, the post-run sweat. I runfess that I've left butt-sweat marks on chairs, sidewalks, and floors when I sat down after a run. So embarrassing!
ReplyDeleteYour medal rack looks fantastic!
That's why I stand. If I sit, I make cushions wet. Sometimes I forget and sit down on the edge of the bed. Gross!
DeleteI have never puddled. I must drip it all off before I ever get inside LOL!
ReplyDeleteGreat medal racks! They are fantastic and so full! That would make me want to run a half, too!
I've tried shaking like a dog. But, I can't seem to make that work for me. I think the reason is because I continue to sweat profusely for a good while after I've stopped running. My body is leaking!
DeleteOur humidity is down today & I'm hoping tomorrow morning!!!
ReplyDeleteI've never puddled... but I rarely sweat - except from my knees. Isnt' that weird?
LOVE your medals hanging!!!!
I have to say that is pretty weird, RJ. Knee sweat. I think my face leaks the most.
DeleteThat is awesome you have a little break in the heat today!
ReplyDeleteI sweat terribly, I am sure if I looked down I would see drops for sure. In fact if I run on my treadmill indoors in the winter, the front part that covers the motor will be almost completely covered in sweatdrops even after a 3-5 mile run, that is just from my arms and what flies off them, LOL
Love your medal rack, looks awesome!
I remember doing that on the treadmill at the Y and being embarrassed about it. Now, it wouldn't bother me at all. I work hard for those puddles. Rock the sweat.
DeleteI think I may be a walking puddle, although it seems to be a little better. Cleaver idea on the medal hanger- smarty! TGIF! Enjoy the weekend!
ReplyDeleteI'm with you on the walking puddle. Mine is unfortunately age, location and activity. A triple threat.
DeleteMr Doo-Doo Point! I'm dying! Glad you finally had a break from the heat. Love your medal collection. I also just hung up my first--a similar idea but even cheaper from Ikea. :) Can't wait to see your marathon collection next!
ReplyDeleteCouldn't resist the potty humor. It's how I feel some days. LOL. I loving seeing everyone's ideas on hanging medals. I'm sure my idea was planted by something I saw on-line.
DeleteYay for a respite from the humidity, however brief! The curtain rods look great. I may have to copy. Thanks for linking up!
ReplyDeleteI won't last long but it sure gave me a glimmer of hope. Fall is coming! Yippee.
DeleteHaha! I puddle all the time. Glad it isn't just me, and that you made it ok to talk about...
ReplyDeleteThere is a lot of work that goes into that excessive sweat. We should own the puddle.
DeleteLove your medal rack! Looks perfect! Our weather was great today too!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm glad I got them organized. Now, I need to work on my other distances.
DeleteI love, love, love your medal rack idea. I just may steal it.
ReplyDeleteI keep a towel in the back seat of my truck for the days that I run in town after work. I stand in the parking lot of Lowe's drying off like I just got out of the shower.
I'd give anything to see a run that starts with a NINE right now! I'm really looking forward to tomorrow's early morning run. It's supposed to get down to 64 tonight. WHAT?!?! Yes! 64!
I wonder what other people in the Lowes parking lot think you are doing? LOL. Please steal my idea. I'm sure I got it from something I saw online. I hope you got your 64 degrees! I got 74 for my long run this morning.
DeleteWhen I run at home in Texas, during the summer, I keep a towel beside the door to dry off so I don't sweat through the house on the way to the shower. It's a must!
ReplyDeleteI use the towel to mop the floor up instead of myself. I guess because I'm headed to the shower and think why bother drying off. LOL.
DeleteI puddle, but nothing compared to my hubby and a few of my other running friends. Love the medal hangers made from curtain rods. I did the same in my basement.
ReplyDeleteIt was definitely easier than the pre-made medal racks to install and there's plenty of room to spread them out.
DeleteI don't puddle but that's probably because I drive home from wherever I run usually. The seat in the car is definitely soaked at times. The first time my husband got in the car right after I drove home from a run he was not happy!
ReplyDeleteYou leave your puddles in the car! LOL.
