I don't really have anything worthy of a post this week. When looking at time, riding the Century distance last weekend was along the lines of an ultra event. Although not so hard on the body (other than slight bruising in the sit bone area, I had no evidence) my heart rate was in its aerobic zone all.day.long. I respected that and gave this aging body some extra days off.
Welcome, October. I found this cute ghost on Saturday's ride. |
I posted my Dam Century Recap earlier this week and have linked it below. It would mean the world to me if you'd check that out, if you haven't already.
And that's a wrap!
I know the Fall racing season is in full swing and I'm looking forward to reading what you've been up to!
And that's a wrap!
What a ride! The Dam is beautiful and you certainly get extra bad-assery points for the storm. What an epic thing to do!
ReplyDeleteI really enjoyed going over the bridge at the dam!
DeleteI can't wait to read your century recap - heading over there right now!
ReplyDeleteThanks for the linkup!
You should definitely consider riding a century!
DeleteI had no idea that you were having an elevated HR! FOA.
ReplyDeleteNo. Sorry, I confused you. It just worked the day of the ride (and it took all DAM day) in an aerobic capacity.
DeleteGlad you were able to rest and recover this week!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I think it was the best call for this aging body!
DeleteYour recap was great and it looks like you had the best time!
ReplyDeleteWe were determined to ride easy and have fun. Mission accomplished!
DeleteCongratulations on your century ride! What a huge accomplishment. Just popped over to your recap--very eventful! The view of the Dam was gorgeous. You've definitely earned the right to take time for recover now!
ReplyDeleteHa! It was pretty eventful. Just when we thought we were home free...
DeleteAgain, the century ride with Teresa looks so fun (despite the hard work involved). I'd be up for a century ride...someday. Geesh, I have about 1,000,000 miles of training awaiting me (and a very sore tush) if that ever becomes a reality...(don't hold your breath) ;-)
ReplyDeleteWith the right gear, the tush will hold up just fine! LOL
DeleteCongrats on your century ride! I'm off to read the recap.
ReplyDeleteThank you very much!
DeleteI loved your recap. Our roadkill count was only 4 today, ;-)
ReplyDeleteI need to recovery quickly for the Army Ten Miler next weekend! I'm looking forward to a rest day tomorrow for sure!
Only four? Wow! We lost count. I hope you enjoyed your ride!
DeleteThanks for hosting the link-up and good tips. I will be sure to come back around in a few days!
ReplyDeleteI appreciate you linking with us!
DeleteThe century ride still amazes me. Way to go! You deserve some r & r!
ReplyDeleteThanks. I'm stilling enjoying extra R & R!
DeleteI'm glad you spent the week resting up. I loved your Century report!
ReplyDeleteJust resting and contemplating my next adventure...
DeleteIt really did take me all week to completely recover from our epic adventure....but it was worth every sore muscle and bruised booty bone! :)
ReplyDeleteDefinitely worth it! I'm ready to roll again.
DeleteI'm still in a training cycle for November, but with the way September flew by, November will be here before I know it. I've got 5 miles on tap next weekend.
ReplyDeleteYour training has been going well for Vegas! It will be here soon.
DeleteHappy October! Great that you took extra days off.
ReplyDeleteI hope the cooler temps will follow soon.
DeleteJust read your recap - Nice work lady! I think you earned your rest and recovery!
ReplyDeleteThanks! It was a really fun event.
DeleteYou totally deserve some days off after the Century Ride! Love the friendly ghost. We were busy this weekend decorating for Halloween!
ReplyDeleteI love seeing the Fall and Halloween decorations around the neighborhood. Some of them are so elaborate.
DeleteAmazing that you recovered so quickly!!!
ReplyDeleteVegas baby!!!!!!
I felt OK but probably wouldn't have wanted to sit on my bike for a couple of days afterwards...
DeleteThe Halloween decorations started going up in my neighborhood yesterday so I'm excited. I'm glad you had a good week even if you mostly recovered- it sounds like you needed it after the long ride anyway!
ReplyDeleteI'm looking forward to a long ride this weekend just so I can check our the Fall and Halloween decorations!
DeleteRecovery is the smartest thing you could do this week! You'll be able to absorb all that hard work and repair those muscles and come back even stronger. Most of the times I've gotten injured have been when I jump back into training too soon after a hard workout.
ReplyDeleteI think not jumping back in quickly is one of the hardest things to do. It takes a world of restraint for me.
DeleteAfter your ride, you more than earned your week of rest. I'm glad that you enjoyed it!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad we decided to do the full century distance. It was fun!
DeleteSo glad that you are recovering after the epic century ride!
ReplyDeleteI laughed a little at the inflatable ghost that you saw on Saturday's ride. I think I would be so scared if I ran or rode by that at night lol
I can't wait to see even more decorations on my long ride this weekend!
DeleteI will definitely check out your recap - I'm a little behind on my blog reading. Congrats on the 100 miles and thanks for hosting us!
ReplyDeleteI admit to being behind on blog reading too! Tricia and I are very grateful for everyone who continues to link here each week!
DeleteI haven't read the recap yet, I'm heading over to do that now :)
ReplyDeleteI appreciate that!
Deletejust read your century recap-oh my word!!!congrats on finishing the dam thing in one piece and to finish SMILING!!!!
ReplyDeleteyou are one bad a$$ for sure!!!!
It was DAM fun. Really, it was not the monster we had perceived it would be. Having someone to ride with certainly made it a much more enjoyable experience.
DeleteSo glad to hear you're taking a bit of extra time off! I understand what it's like to have your heart rate working at a higher rate than normal. I hope you're feeling better! And Congratulations on your Century Ride! heading over to your recap right now!
ReplyDeleteIt wasn't that my HR was too high, it just stayed there all day because it took all day to complete the ride. It was almost double what a marathon time would be for me. So, I thought rest was in order.
DeleteHappy October! Nice Halloween decor during your ride. It's amazing how some people go all out for Halloween, especially in some near neighborhoods near us. So fun to see!
ReplyDeleteI can't wait to see more decorations when I ride again this weekend. Some people really take it over the top!
DeleteThe worst thing about the DAM was that it is located in town so there was a lot of traffic with us when we crossed it both times. I have to say, most cars were respectful.
